What a jerk.
My replacement valve came today, the one that was supposed to “increase your ft/lb to between 25ft/lb and 35ft/lb” (with the current stock one I’m getting 11.66ft/lb).
So, it’s a stainless steel one-piece item, the shaft is rough (scored) and not a single dimension is different. Same internal bore and the two holes at the end of it (that go down inside the bottle) are same size and position as stock (the only two things that could have made a possible difference).
I tested it with the chrono anyway…not a jot of difference.
Cost me £17 ($34). Totally ripped off.
So, does anyone here know of anyone who can simply supply me with replacement components, to US spec? I’m figuring the entire valve assembly in the bottle needs to be swapped out, not just the stem & top-hat. Any pointers will be appreciated, TIA. 😀

Don’t forget you have to drill up the stem and straight into the port holes if your stem has not already been done, i.e. on the U.K. stem the bore hole is restricted to a small hole just prior to the 2 transfer port holes.
I don’t know your country and am not interested either, but if you want a high flow valve as in the Condor, then i can recommend the “blodnob” valve from Sean in England. This valve is equil if not better than the Condor valve, its no problem to buy a Condor valve anyway from USA although i don’t think Airforce ship outside the States, get someone in the states to buy and ship you one with a few green backs for their trouble, PM me for a few names i can recommend and trust with your bread in the States.Air valves are air valves and not firearm component parts so theres no violation of laws either here or there. Thanks for that. I’d read it some days ago but lost it, handy to have it again (as I’m going to follow it to the letter).
The Dutch guy got back to me, it looks like an honest mistake. He’s already refunded my money back to Paypal. He was also of the opinion the standard ID of the shaft is 2.5mm, so god only knows why/how my stock one is 3mm. Maybe the last owner had already been at it with a drill. He was, however, as unaware as me of the need to modify the internal retainer. Shit happens.
The next challenge is to remove the entire valve assembly from the bottle. I have no vice, so I’m either going to have to buy one (and something to mount it on) or take the bottle into a machine-shop. I’ll get there in the end. 😀

I always thought it was funny how that in the UK you can only have 12 ft/lbs, but heck! you can have a silencer! You can’t kill crap, but at least you can shoot at it in style 8)
And in the US, you can have all the power your heart desires, but no silencer.
In both places, you have to pay for either power, or a silencer, lol 😛

You can have silencers in the US for firearms, but not in CALIFORNIA!!!!!!! and a few other states. It’s considered a Class III item and requires local law enforcement and BATF approval to own. California has banned Silencers and Pen Guns. Thank you elected officials for that!!!!
Silencers on Air guns is still undefined. Due to lack of definitive guidance, I feel the BATF doesn’t really care as well.

U.S. Talon has a bore less than 3.2mm, i took mine to 3.5mm with hand reamer when i had stock valve.

Right, I need a vice for the bottle and a lever for the valve-body. After emptying the bottle first of course. What’s the bottle made of, steel or aluminium?

That’s what I suspected all along. So basically the only difference between a US spec and UK spec rifle is that restricted spring-retainer? Or do US spec rifles also have a 3.2mm stem bore?
Ok, you can bore the stem out to max of 3.2mm, this alone on a UK valve is not all you do, the valve spring retainer of the valve has a restrictive pin hole in it, so no matter what you do with the valve stem, your never goin to up the power. The bottle needs draining of air and the valve body removed. At the back of the body is the spring retainer, either in nylon or brass, the hole in this needs enlarging and airflowed. Let us know if this is the prob. and a scored stem being sold to you at that price is a bummer. ATB Bear
For crying out loud, the Condor is $607! That’s about £300, less than the poxy UK-spec kiddy-gun costs over here!
A better idea…does anyone fancy simply buying an entire bloody Condor and sending it to me in seperate bits? 😆

My valve stem has a diameter of, well i need to measure it, but the bore of the valve stem is only 2.74 mm. I think you have something else going on, and the pring-retainer’s aperture could be restricted. Oh yeah i was getting 26.8 fpe with a 12 inch barrel.

I’ve just got done putting my bottle back together. The retainer had a pin-sized hole in it. I’ve drilled it out to 3mm (approx), to match the ID of the stem (figured there’d be no point going bigger than that), now getting variable fps from as low as 725 to as high as 793 (20+ ft/lbs). Not sure why there’s such a variance, but I’m still pretty happy. 🙂
I’ve checked my stock stem, it’s definitely 3mm all the way down. I’m pretty sure the previous owner did it, thinking he’d be able to de-restrict it with just that. I bet he was pissed off. 😆
Edit: Got 850fps with Bisley Premier, 990fps with Prometheus (plastic skirted). I’m guessing that’s down to either a looser/tighter fit in the barrel, or lighter weight of the pellets.
