If the brass part that the valve stem goes into has two rounds holes on either side of the stem, its older. If it has two slots on either side then its new type.

Whew! Yup, it’s got the slots as opposed to the holes YN. I could see the difference from mine and a photo Snyder posted, and even though the brass piece is upside down in the photo you posted, I could see the slot coming out from the edge. Thanks man, I’m in a better mood now lol.

Here’s everything it says on it:

DOT-3AL3000 FK0010657 TG-3ALM207 CLIFF DIV 08007 WC.5LT .65.KG

Crap could this be a 2007, and did the newer valve come out last year?

check the manufacture date on the tank itself, if it is anything 2008 I’d say you are good to go (not a surefire method but odds in your favor) only way I know for sure is to pull the stem.

Hope you get it sorted out!

OK, I just got a “New” Condor tank. This is starting to concern me as I’m hoping I have the newer valve. I’ll post a pic any angle you want, if you can tell me if it’s new or old by looking at a photo I’ll do it. Just trying to get away from taking the stem out if I can. Don’t wanna screw anything up if I have to exchange it for another one. Can any of you tell by looking at a photo?

ok thanks for your help YN i will call and get one

Yup, just called up and asked for a kit to upgrade my Condor valve to the new type.

where did you get the kit? airforce?

Found the picture of the parts I got when I ordered the upgrade kit.

They sell a kit with everything you need. I upgraded mine and it came within a week or so.

IIRC its the stem (with tophat), Delrin seal and the insert.

thats what i thought thanks YN
so if i just got a new stem would that fix the problem?

Thats an old style stem.

took it out i think i have an old one… 🙁
here is a picture so you guys can verify

alright i will try taking it out and see
and i definetly dont want to spent 50 bucks to replace the valve….
but i have to leave for school i will try when i get home

new valve vs. old;

when the valve stem came out, was the stem the same diameter all the way down; or was it tapered down to a smaller diameter shank at the base of the stem? old valve is single diameter, new valve has a small reduced diameter shank at the end.
