Q:

3000_2800_2700?

Hey, Guys!
Just got my .25 Barrel from Tony. BEAUTIFUL. (Thanks Tony)
Question: I know that most Condors do not actually like a 3000 fill but rather a 2800 or 2700. Can anyone tell me what the most common preference of the condor is? I tried the crony thing and the numbers are all over the place, up and down with no logical order. If I hold the muzzle say 6″ high and/or close to the sensors, could I expect roughly the same results if it varies an inch or so between shots or would it not make much difference?… this might actually be TWO questions in mixed up in one!
I am so confused… 😕

PS. I am sure this has been talked about but could not find it… so many posts. Forgive me if it is a broken record subject.

Good one.

quick math:

8lb*16oz/lb*28.1pellets per oz. = 3596 pellets / 500 = 7.1tin equivelant

39.69 / 7.1 = 5.59/tin, about the same cost as metal tin Crossmans but much cheaper than JSB or Kodiac.

IMO would have to find a better price to make it worthwhile depending on performance. Would be fun to try though if a smaller qty could be gotten for testing before commiting to 8 pounds of the stuff.

Shrpshotr28,

Great information. # 3 buckshot is definitely another candidate for .25 cal and an economical alternative for practice and plinking.

I did a little surfin’ and found a web site that offers swagged F buckshot in an 8 lb container… shop around this was my first attempt so there may be better offers out there.

There isn’t a buck shot that equals .22 is there? You ever seen what a 3″ mag loaded with 000buck does? It’s a beautiful thing.

I haven’t seen it for sale for a while, but haven’t really looked hard either.

here’s what you would need: #f is buckshot, TTT is a reg. shot size.

#F (TTT) Buck 1.05 g (16.2 gr.) 5.59 mm (0.220″)

I would expect this smaller size to be “dropped shot” instead of swaged, so sizing might not be uniform enough to be of any use without sorting.

Shrpshtr, How many grains does a Hornady # 3 buckshot wiegh? At 5 pounds that’s very economical plinking and practicing. Thanks for the tip.

Here’s the math:

#3 buckshot (.250 dia)= 23.4gr/pellet (a little more than a .22 kodiac)

1lb = 7000gr so…………

5lb = 35,000gr / 23.4 = 1495 “pellets” per box

5lb box Hornady #3 = 21.00
most .25 pellets are 200ct per tin

1495 / 200 = 7.5 tins (rounded off)

21.00 / 7.5 = 2.80 / tin

Allows saving of the 7.00+ kodiacs for occasions where the accuracy/additional knockdown is really needed.

Yes, lots of cheap fun shooting. out to 25yd, they even do well on CO2 for can bashing/tearin stuff up. 😈

funny you should say that, savage. It seems angelina gets more feisty around that fill area too. How many shoots do you get with that fill?

I get 20 very consistent shots (900Fps) and it uses 700psi=refill at 1800psi. I have my top hat at .070 and I usually have my P.W. between 8 to 10.

I fill to 1800 and get 20 very consistent shots at ~970. I highly recommend this setup. TONS of fills off a scuba tank.

Birdhunter what is your setup? Gun? Pellets? Tophat?

I tried your setup and it looks good! I am getting between 920 and 949ish w/ a 20 shot string and kodiaks. That takes me down to just below 2000 w/ a 2400 fill starter. Rough 100 hand pumps gets me back to 2400. Now i will test the POI variation to see how it works.
Thanks a million for helping me get into the ballpark!!!
I owe you!

Glad to help. I love mine being “low pressure”. (when I first set mine up i was hand pumping also, so the lower pressure was a lot more fun/less work) Now, filling on HPA, I get many more complete fills before having to fill the big bottle.

LOL!!!

I said I owe Sharp shooter, not you , Blue jay!! 😀

I am trying to forget that nightmare!

What power level are you using for this setup?

here’s where I get my roundball:

best price I’ve found, and GREAT service.

As a point of reference, My .25 setup is a condor spec TSS w/ 24″ bbl and heavier hammer. I fill to 2400 for 20 shots, ending at 1700psi. Kodiacs start at 950, up to 1000 at shot 6 or so and end at 950. If I fill more, the shot count goes up but the first several shots are in the upper 800s and climb from there. It’s really good on # of fills from a tank this way though, so I’m not complaining at all.

I could get more shots per fill, but the long range stuff shows poi shift if I accept a shot string with more than about 60-70fps difference. Easier to just keep it topped off. With the talon tank and roundball, I get about 35 shots on a 2800 fill before poi starts moving too much.

Thanks for the shooting compliments everyone. After about the 5th hit, the “dinger” was shot out/broken off so it no longer ‘rang’ when hit.
