Q:

Talon or a Condor, what to to get? advice needed

Ok folks need your advice on what to get. I like power so a Condor is my natural choice in .22 but I have neighbors all around. Concerned if that will be too much of a gun for California use 🙂 if you know what I mean. How loud is the Condor on mid level power setting compared to a Talon? I am looking at either .22 Talon or .22 Condor. Concerned that .22 Talon maybe too slow, and .22 Condor too loud. I know I can always upgrade Talon to a Condor with a Condor hi-flow tank but still would prefer to get a Condor and work on ND device.

What is the chrony data for the .22 Talon like? Like at what fps will it shoot Kodiak’s, and Eunjins on full power? Is the Talon on full power less louder then a Condor considerably or about the same? Need your advice.

thanks in advance….

JD, thanks for the input, and everybody thanks with advice and ideas. Yeah I am springer guy, currently have my Hunter 1250 .177 clock at 1015 with Kodiak’s after a deep tune, that makes me very happy and it is very accurate at that speed if I do my part, only thing is heavy, 10 punds with scope. It was doing like 933 out of the box.

So I figure the SS would be about the same power wise, and that should be plenty for general use.

Is SS easy to shoot?

apples to oranges compared to a high powered spring gun. Recoil and firing manners are about equal to shooting a red ryder. Almost zero recoil or vibration and a pretty decent trigger, which can be made better.

Smooth enough that you can see pellet impacts through the scope, and no vibration/harshness. 1/2 – 3/4 inch groups at 50 yds are very doable even with the short barreled SS.

Cocking effort is reduced to pressure applied by a single thumb instead of a whole upper body workout.

Order extra pellets you’re going to love it. 😈

My first PCP- The TSS in .177 totally stock . I had big concerns with noise and the TSS was perfect for my situation-the gun is relatively quiet and gets lots of shots per fill. Shoots Kodiaks and Premier heavies in the meat of the curve–right around the 900fps range 😀 — My eyes almost popped out of my head when shooting over my chrony–with the 18″ barrel in .177 I saw speeds as high as 1065 and thats with 10.5 grain pellets thats about 27 foot pounds. Next picked up an 18″.20cal barrel – out of that I shoot 13.2 Kodiaks- 14.3 premiers and 11.5 FTS–all three will fly as fast as the high 900s. Shooting at higher power levels or in the meat of the curve things are pretty loud with the 18″ barrels —- actually pretty damn loud… But got myself a nice all aluminium awesome thing for the business end of the gun and it chokes that sound down – way down 😉 . You will be shooting as fast as you need to in .177 with a 12″ barrel- so that way you can break into the world of pcps easily and relatively quiet. 😈

I am in Orange County. I take it , it is louder then HW100 🙂

Where can I look at the diagram of the gun? I want to look at the valve structure and and it’s hammer design.

I am just wondering if a regular SS with a heavier spring and some weight to the stock hammer, can up the .22 SS to say 875-890 fps even with a 12 inch barrel installed.

You can’t have one (fps) without the other (noise) unless you buy or make a GOOD shroud.

I’ve had a .22 TSS close to/right at 900 fps w/ JSB exact jumbos, with valve work and heavier hammer. Definitely “do-able’. Be tough with Kodiacs though (can get them over 800fps for sure though).

What part of CA. are you from? I can tell you this, if you’ve not heard a pcp before your going to be surprised by how loud it is.

that is very nice to be able to do this. I think SS in .177 is perfect in .22 maybe to slow, stock gun just breaking 800fps. But with that 24 inch barrel that thing will shine in .22 …. my biggest problem is noise, plus tight on extra cash right now so I have to go the cheapest route… 😳 mostl like SS way.

Yep

I need that shroud so I can get a Condor, but not for $300 that’s a crazy price.

Say I get a .177 SS stock, then order a 24 inch .22 barrel for it. Will I be able to use both calibers on the same tank valve?

what’s the noise level difference when fired between the two tanks?

Both are very quite, but I have a TalonTunes shroud and the Talon tank is on the gun the most….mouse fart…LOL 😆

I have a Condor with a spare Talon tank and it’s thee best thing I did with all my add on’s for the Condor. 😀

I like that idea SS with a spair Condor tank. Seems like SS model is the best of both words. I don’t know why only the 12 inch barrel? Why not shroud the Condor like a Condor SS that would be the ultimate I think from the factory.

Caliber changes do they work with the same tank-valve or there is an actual difference in those for .177 and .22 barrels?

How much are those AirHog Condor shrouds?

I am thinking SS too. I didn’t realize that the Talon frame is shorter then the SS and the Condor. That way if I get SS I can always get a 24inch barrel and have something close to a Condor.

Do they sell Talon SS with a Condor tank? PA would not do it. I like that idea of doing a little stuffing of the ss shroud. Anyone uses SS with a Condor tank?

Started out with an SS and some quieting stuff from the hardware store here. Best thing about it is easy upgrades.

Currently mine sports a TT .25 barrel, Condor tank, and home made heavy hammer/shroud. I’ll throw the Condor tank on when hunting is on the adjenda and use the talon tank for backyard stuff where more shots per fill are a benefit and power is not the primary concern.

On my setup there is about a 75fps difference between the condor and talon tanks (talon valve is power modded)
