hammer slap

I think leather would work well but remember back in the day when guys tried it.
They could never find a good way to secure it and the leather always came loose.
I think a nice solenoid hammer would work well…haha

okay scrap teh leather idear…..
Teflon would be my next choice…… dead kinda elastic stuff
OR…….. don’t worry about it 🙂
Walter….
solenoid hammer????? nah that battery pack would have to be huge!

Any power loss should be easily made up by hammer spring tension.
would likely go with a leather washer from a good belt.
walter….
That is correct.
The hammer slap mod does not decrease any velocity when your hammer spring load is increased.
It does not eliminate the slap but changes the tone to a much more comfortable level.
Tony, would you rec’d leather for this application? I am thinking it might have better properties than rubber.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

Also one of Drums hybrid hammers should help 😉
Link please.
Leupy says on his website IIRC you can decrease the hammer slap noise by changing the geometry of the hammer/bolt interface.
I am interested in trying this as well.

Rhoderman your right! Was thinking bass-ackwards.
I fooled around with that once. Attached a very thin rubber like material to the breech where the hammer hits it.
I lost 100 fps !!!
Quickly was removed forever.
I believe it’s more to minimize the noise when the hammer smacks the breech block, Sam. If you put an o-ring behind the breech block, on top of the top hat, the hammer would still hit the breech block and make the noise.
I grooved the front of my homemade hammer for an o-ring. Can’t say it’s a bunch quieter, and it didn’t slow it down any. I probably did it wrong… 🙁
Heck Riff it seems like you could put a small O-ring on the top hat and achieve almost the same thing? Of course it would probably eat the O-ring after just a few shots.

i have always wonder if it was possible too… 😆
