Blodnob Valve shot count?
I am pondering ways to get some more power out of my .25 Talon and I was wondering what kind of power vs. shot-count you guys get on the Blodnob valve. Anyway, are there any mods (other than a heavier hammer) necessary? I figured that I’d ask the people on this forum first because Sean seems like a busy person with all the orders and his day job…

Get your self a piece of plastic tubing like used in an icemaker. Make a little sleeve to cover the bolt and take the impact against the frame.
Works for me
No testing …. my breech knob went kaput … Couldn’t fix it. Does somebody know how to fix this permanently??
Due to the reaction forces on the tophat, the breech bounces back and the breech knob is than hitting againts the frame. The frame has also been damaged by this …
I have fraised the surface of the frame which has been badly damaged by the constant hitting of the threat of the breech knob. Unfortunately this caused a bigger play between frame and breech knob so things have become even worse.
I am now thinking about to (let) construct a modified breech with an offset of the breech knob (more towards the frame) in order to eliminate the play between frame and knob.
This will mean that I this new breech should be at least 1 cm longer in order to be able to mount the breechknob more forwards (about 1cm).
I will also make a bigger threat into the breech to withstand the reaction forces. Last idea is to use a hexag. nut which will increase the contact surface between breech knob and frame.
Maybe there is a better solution available but if not I will have to do it my way.
Hope to hear some tips.

Gradje, Thanks for the testing. I’ll be watching here for your results.
This sunday I will do some testings. Scope is to test the difference between blodnob, OEM (airforce) valve and a third valve made by a dutch guy who made this valve for me. I will start with a 95gr hammer and standard spring. I also have a 45gr and a 60gr hammer and a much stronger spring so lots of experiments can be done. Must be a hell of power when I use the 95 gr hammer with extra strong spring together with the blodnob valve. And to make it even more interesting, I also have a 300 bar bottle. Now hoping the weather isn’t too bad for chrony testing.
To be continued ….
Right on Varminter. I’ll keep an eye out for your post.
Do you have one? If yes, how do you like it?
I don’t have one yet but I have one on the way and hope to have it soon. I don’t know much about the valve except that it’s supposed to be the best for the Airforce air rifles. I’ll post results when I get mine. It’s a a long and painful wait but I’m sure I’ll be worth it. 😀
Look forward to seeing the results Gradje 😉
Hi, I will do some testing on the blodnob valve vs the original one. Since I have two bottles this will give a good indication of ther performance between these two. Depending on the time availible I might also change hammer weights to see what that will lead to. Just be patient for about two weeks and I will publish some results.

Cheers Varm, Any ideas on the other Q’s?…… Sean?
Do you have one? If yes, how do you like it?
I don’t mean to speak for Sean but I just asked him the same question. I don’t know about the older blodnob valves but his current valve will work with the stock breech without any modifications.
Thought It would of been but just checking 😉
Blod, Do you need to mod the breech when running your valves? How do the restrictors fit In any how long does It take to change them?? Oh how much are they? 🙂
Hey, Blodnob, what exactly do you mean? PM me…I’m confused?
I don’t have a gun to test anything.
But i’ll send you a valve Kit over when i get some made ( havnt been in the garage for a fortnight 😥 ).
so you can do some tests n let me know.
How’s that ?
Ive had steel orderd n cut at the stockholders sinse Christmas, but havnt had chance to pick it up.
Sean.

Looks like it’s the blodnob valve is the problem. After installing the original valve the breech stops falling apart …. Big question now is why the blodnob valve is bouncing back my breech so hard… see topic bounsing(?) hamer????
To be continued.
