Q:

Need help buying Talon SS

Hey guys and gals,

Brand new to the forums and had a few questions about the Talon SS.

I was wondering if there was any way i could get the talon ss in the .22 caliber and make it so it’s backyard friendly? if not would the .177 still be enough to hunt squirrels and crows? (only want to know if backyard friendly for scoping in gun.) Thanks for your help and hope you guys have fun with your talons.

PS. How loud is it when it’s .22 and .177?

Currently, I’m using the 177 barrel because I have a lot of 177 pellets to use, and they are a bit cheaper. 177 is fine for typical urban pests, mine puts out 10.5gr CPHs at 780fps.

I think the 177 is quieter, but that could be debated. I like 177 becuase it is less powerful. I also use RWS Club10 wadcutters as they shed energy a lot quicker than the heavy domes, which makes it safer. It puts out pretty good power with the CO2 adaptor too, so that is a very nice option for the fair weather shooter, it uses simple paintball tanks from walmart, and they are refillable for cheap, what could be easier?

you might try your local dive shop , since he probably will be filling it for you.

Not sure about Ebay, but once in a while you can find a decent deal on a tank on your local craigslist.

My dad’s to busy at work to buy one.

What kind of scuba tank should i get? I saw new that there alot of money, but on ebay i can get them for like 100$. is it worth it to buy them off ebay and what kind should i look for on there. (If not Ebay then somewhere I can get one cheap.)

any chance dad will want one also? he is gona miss out on a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good shooting

The $57 scope has mildots and target turrets fair to good optics and includes shipping. I have several and recommend them.

The RF is the new model of the one I currently have. It reads airgun ranges (under 100 yards) in half yard steps and is small enough to fit in your shirt pocket (it does you no good if you don’t have it with you). I cannont recommend Bushnell Yardage Pros, I’ve owned two that died and know another guy that had one die as well.

Hmmmmm, I don’t know about a range finder…. But a good scope would be the leapers 6-24×50 ($99) or the bushy legend 5-15×40 ($180)… Both are great scopes and won’t kill the pocketbook.

hate to ask more from you guys, but questions keep rising up.

1.) whats a good scope that’s on the cheaper side that I should get for my gun?

2.) Same kind of thing for a range finder. (Cheaper one. spending so much already on gun adn scuba tank)

Just an AF Scuba adapter, available at Pyramyd Air.

What do i need for the scuba tanks in terms of fittings and things to hook up to the cannister.

thanks

You have several options: Buy a HILL handpump or an FX handpump (NOT AF) or, go with a 4500 psi SCBA tank (high pressure). They are generally more compact but cost considerably more. BTW, a SCUBA tank isn’t really that big… I am 14 and I can haul the scuba tank around, no problemo.. Really, look at a 80cf tank…… Not huge.

i wasn’t saying he wouldn’t let me have it incase it explodes, it’s just to big to have around. i heard there was a pump and somthing else you can use.

thanks for that speedy reply
