Q:

why a talon ss???

Tell me why I need a Talon SS?
I just bought a condor a month or so ago. I have the pump and a scuba tank with fill adapter on the way. I want something mellower for squirrels in my residential back yard. My condor is pretty quiet but I am worried even dialed down it may be a little much for my back yard. I like the .22 so would probably get another one because pellets would be easy to keep stock and track of if same. I also like .22 for knock out power. I am thinking I already bought alot of crap for my condor why not get a talon ss? My other choices would be a cheaper hand pump or something for pest control. I need a couple good resons to push me over the edge. LOL

Great thanks – I actually have some at work and will try to attach them to my Stealth (lame UK Talon) tomorrow!

Those grips caught my eye – are they Colt grips?

Thanks Ed (Surrey UK where shooting is as antisocial as terrorism)

Yes they are Colt 1911 grips. I made the trigger guard and grip frame 😀

I agree with this Walkonian prophecy….The SS with the Don G shroud is ideal for everyday use on small to mid sized game. My buddies condor is awesome but overly powerful and more rapport for my needs….more of a bigger game gun…I think it is best to have both models to balance out your quiver.

quote WalkonKing:

Because you will shoot it 10x more then your Condor, that is why. Sure guys with Condors like to pull them out and show everyone their big balls. But for most shooters it is too loud, too long and to powerful for urban maneuvers.

The Talon SS is short and tight, quiet and powerful. Out to 50 yds it is a no brainer at 70yds more shooting savy is needed. But around the house and for good pest control and fun the SS is hard to beat.

Put some baffles in it and get a Wokbutt and you have a nice gun to shoot. This is what my Talon SS use to look like and it was bad ass.

Alot Quieter then an empty chamber, ping, ppssshhhttt

quote Yellow Ninja:

SS does 95% (made up figure) of what the Condor can do, is shorter, easier to quieten down and gets more shots.

agree !

the valve is better balanced imho and can be tweaked…..for power freaks you can still add a 24″ .25 barrel and do 50-65 fpe or 40-45 fpe in .22 pretty much perfect for kodiacs

12″ barrel, Talon tank, baffling in the frame and put on your shroud….That makes the best SS and is cheaper…..

quote slayer5:

How does a shroud work on the SS?

It replaces the .5″ muzzle cap with a 9.5″ long unit on the end of the TSS

Here’s a couple of pics of 2 types of shrouds installed….

GTBJ shroud

Silent Hunter shroud

How does a shroud work on the SS?

If you want to carry it around get an SS no doubt. I have a .25 Condor but it’s a bench gun for that reason. With a shroud its about 47″ OAL and fairly heavy with a big scope and bipod.

Put a shroud on the stock TalonSS and it will get even quieter 🙂

What next guys, as you love to spend my money! LOL
Talon SS is nice in basement very short will backpack nicely.
Same awesome accuracy to me. I was using the predator pellets (lighter than the kodiaks) and the talon ss is impressive with the lighter pellets. I have not tried the longer ranges yet to see how the lighter pellets stack up against the kodiacks at say 40 yards or so. Just got the crony set up still working out the bugs very inconsistent. Sometimes it reads sometimes it does not but getting a good start checking velocity of more pellets. I tried a wad cutter type lighter pellet in my condor in the basement ONCE!

Wok, what kind of scope you peeping through.

I had a leapers 3-9 50mm on it. But currently it has a Legend on it.
