Quite literally… 😕 😆 😉
Good shit for speaker boxes, until it gets wet.
MDF and particle board are two very different things. MDF will hold it’s size in water better than particle board which will expand to about 200% or more of the original size… There is a antiwater mdf it will have green edge markings from the factory and should not expand more than 1/16 for every inch.
Particle board is from small bits of wood and each one expands. MDF is made from dust so the particle is very small and doesn’t expand as much. Trupan is a light weight version of the mdf material… MDF is more glue than wood, at least it feels like it when you lift it…
Typically you will find particle board and trupan in most stores, mdf is about 100lbs a 4×8 foot sheet @ 3/4″ thick, trupan is about 60% the weight of mdf…
Most plywoods will do better than the trupan for stopping projectiles. MDF will do better than plywood and I have not tested particle board but it would be right there with mdf…
mdf and trupan make good stocks if your not into doing serious carving… 😉
I’m aware of the difference in MDF and particle board. Still, they both suck if they’re put it water. 😉
My trap is made of one of those partical boards! LOL
I made it large about 2ftx 2ft. I have 2 layers of carpet (soon to be replaced by electrical box partical boards and my 16lbs of clay. I have 3 sheets of plywood behind the trap and then the cinderblock wall in case one gets thru all that! LOL I will keep my trap behind my electrical box of partical board and clay so no matter what I am good for a while. As far as stacking pellets I get very bored of that. I print airgun targets that have dozens of duck, dots, squirrels and such and shoot one at each dot. I then change the paper and most likely it is not in the same spot. I have put 10 pellets thru one hole at 27 feet but it gets boring to me. I have the AF laser sighted for the short distance and put the laser on and the kodiac hits the spot. Lots of good information here. I kinda knew I should have bought duct seal but I was impatient. I dropped the mother in law off at AC MooRe one night and bought the clay. Thanks for the imput all

MDFX= MadDogFu*kerXtraLongTime 😀
Yup, I reinforced my powerbox with a piece of particle board – stacking the
modeling clay on top. So far, so good.
As for “…Maybe your just a bad shot …” well, I’m not sure I even wanna try
and contest that!! 😀 😀
I was thinking about my earlier post, however, and may have over est. the
number of shots into the trap a fair bit as I didn’t take into account those shot
while wandering CA backroads. So, the trap is probably more in the 1250
range or so.
Even with that number… I at least HAD to stak a few of them, right YN?? If for
no reason but pure chance… 😉

they do make MDFX for things like that 😯 😛
I don’t know. I just bought one painted with bedliner and I had it carpeted. :11 (ProBox)

MDF = Particle Board – 3/4″.
Ninja and Wok are old timers at this. Take their word for it, the duct seal is the way to go. I made one using a 100 amp breaker box ( search my posts and you’ll see it ). Inside the metal box I placed a 3/4″ plywood backing, then stacked duct seal on top another to fill it up. I’m shooting a Condor HOT – turned all the way up in 25 cal with heavy 6 ring slugs. It stop them cold and also a 22 cal Long rifle shell. It sits outside all year long, like WOK said.
Later
OK, What is MDF Board?

Listen to WOK on the metal plate or the MDF or both. You are shooting a CONDOR not a TALON. IF I were you I would use three layers of Duct Seal. I on say that because my Condor goes threw three layers of duct seal and you can hear it hit the 3/4 MDF board after about 5 to 8 shoots at one spot.
Edit forgot to say ” Your Happy Fatman “
I also recommend a metal plate or 3/4″ piece of MDF behind a couple layers of duct seal.

There are varying grades of hardness in modeling clay, So you both can be correct. depends on the hardness and type used.
The hard clay is pretty dam hard. Its hard to cut with a knife , and the soft ones offer almost no resistance at all.
