Inconsistent shots with fully tuned condor.

I am hoping someone with more experience than me can give me some advice.
While trying to zero my scope in today I had nothing but inconsistent shots, power and accuracy. My shots were all over, and one I could have thrown harder. I do not have a chronograph right now so I cant get exact numbers, but sometimes could see the pellet which I wasn’t expecting. The Gun is a fully tuned 24″ 25cal. condor. I have not touched anything that Tony has done so I don’t know what the problem could be. I am pumping the tanks to the same psi each time ,and leaving PW where he had it set. I was hoping it was the Superdomes, but Jerry said that wouldn’t explain the power inconsistency. I am using two Airforce tanks which I had Tony get to matching performance. I am using a brand new Hill Pump so the gauges should be accurate. I shoot no more than ten rounds before switching to a 3000psi filled tank. Any help anyone could give me would be much appreciated.

I just took out the o ring and went on with shooting. To be honest I can’t really tell a difference in the sound of the shot.
can anyone tell me how to get my safety to stay put. When i put my grip back on it just slides around until it comes out of groove. I don’t remember taking a piece off that held it in place and can’t find one. Also my breech seems to be sticking or binding now, any suggestions.

Took gun apart everything looks good. Cleaned and lubed it. Jerry said my slugs shipped out yesterday, so hopefully I’ll know more in a couple of days.

I did have the hammer slap mod done. Did you put it back or get a new one? I plan on taking it apart this weekend and looking over everything.

Did you have a hammer slap mod done by Tony. I have a Talon that was tuned by Talon Tunes including the hammer slap mod. The o ring from the mod came loose and was interfearing with the hammer. I would get a few shots that were normal and then all of a sudden on shot would be very quiet with very low velocity. Once I found the loose o ring and took it out the rifle returned to great performance.

You don’t want to use any oil or grease inside the frame. Dry graphite or teflon is fine though. I use silicone spray and let the hammer dry before reinstalling.

Besides what you’ve already been told, here’s something else I thought of that may or may not be worthwhile: Make sure you follow through on the trigger pull. I don’t know these guns like the experts here but I recall a number of guys on the net having problems with low power shots and it all came back to their trigger pull! These guys were trying so hard to be accurate and smooth that they pulled the trigger so slow that the hammer sear was dragging across the hammer slowing it down and causing low power shots! The fix is nothing more than having the trigger finger follow through on the pull. It doesn’t require a jerk or fast pull, just smooth follow through. Just a thought, take it for what it’s worth…
Besides the above thought; see what you can do to chase down the issues that Lang and the guys have identified as potential causes. I would note that you should make sure you don’t get confused regarding where to use silicone and where to use oil. Use the silicone on o-rings and use oil or moly inside the frame where you have metal to metal contact to avoid/lubricate.
I will thanks. The letter with rifle said everything is set for maximum performance, I suppose with the pellets Tony used. So I wasn’t exactly sure what I should play with. Right now I’m starting to think the biggest problem may be the pellets. Some of them feel as they could slide right down the barrel. Hopefully PA gets pellets soon so I can be sure it is the pellets.

The o-ring may have been twisted before but has now righted itself. I’ve found the smoothness (or lack) of the breech’ cocking-action to vary a fair bit. Sometimes it needs a bit of a jiggle to settle the o-ring.
Your rifle will need shooting-in, to work all the contact-surfaces into a comfortable zone. At some point you’ll need to strip it in order to clean it. Just keep shooting it and see how it goes. Experiment with different fill-pressures and power-wheel settings (or spacers if you have no power-wheel). Each one of these rifles is unique and develops it’s own little idiosyncrasies, you’ll just have to learn yours. 🙂
I went down to 2800psi and did another 50 shots today. I did not notice any huge inconsistency in speed like the other day. There were a couple groups of within a couple of inches and than gone again. How smooth should the bolt-action be? Where I said tit wasn’t exactly smooth is in the first 1/4-1/2″ is that just it sealing and unsealing? Or should it be a smooth as a well oiled powder burning bolt-action. Sorry for all the questions I’m new to PCP’s. I do appreciate all the Help.

It is not hard to cock it, but it is not smooth. Its almost like it is moving in stages when done slowly. If pushed hard enough and fast enough it’s smooth.

An o-ring in the breech may have been turned/twisted or pushed slightly out of it’s groove into the space between it and the barrel and is no longer riding smoothly. I’d be suprised if any of the other components have something snagging them, I don’t think Tony makes oversights like that. Strip the rifle down and get the breech out and check it over. If it is the forward o-ring that would explain the inconsistency, the breech wouldn’t ride smoothly up against the valve when the hammer hits it. And/or it’e letting air past it down into the frame.

The only way the pellets could be causing it is if air is getting around them and up the barrel before them, which is next to impossible (the air behind them blows the skirt out into the bore of the barrel).

Want to thank everyone for the help. It was for sure the pellets and possibly the psi. I’m shooting at 2800 and 2900 psi, and pw@12 Jerrys 7 rings are working out great. 25 yds 1/2 inch or better.
PA just canceled my order said 42grain Eunjins are discontinued? Looks like I will be ordering more from Jerry.
