What got you interested in Guns?
Eds wife here. Just wanting to know what got everyone interested in Guns! I thought I would join the clan to get to know a little more about my husbands passion! I love him so and I just wanted to learn more about what he likes..

Guns to me were just one of those things in life you should know. Along the same sort of lines as swimming, knowing basic first aid, driving a car and so on. The logic is even if you never wish to use any of the skills again your still better off knowing them than not. In the end I found it quite relaxing shooting targets. You have to give it your consecration and so it gets your mind off all the other things. We all do something to get away, some people may watch TV, some play video games, some read magazines but for me its shooting well that and mountain biking.
welcome aboard! my father had us shooting bb guns probably before 5 years old. I shot a .22 not long after. I have been hooked ever since, guns bows whatever. Its a contest against yourself really. I know I can shoot a better group if I try this or that! I reload as well becasue it adds more variables to try out! Lmao! Hunting is only a part of what I do. I shoot paper way more. wish I had more time to hunt. hunting I was raised on as well. Don’t you find it amazing you can send a projectile screaming at 1000 ft per second with some pressurized air? how about hitting a small target with that projectile at say 50 or 100 yards. It still amazes me. Arrow flight is the same thing. Hunting shows the results of that power and precision !

Thanks for all the gun stories. I like to hear how ppl get interested in what they do..And why is ed so crazy sawtime? We’re just sharing something together. It’s been a passion of his since he was a kid. So I figured it’s going to be a part of our lives for a long time why not except it and try to see what it’s all about. I have no problem with it. I would rather him spend the money on pellets and guns then drugs and alcohol. It’s money well spent. And yes I seen that jelly jar video..I don’t even want to think about that one again..ugh.. 😯 But thanks again for all the stories. Glad you get to share it with your kids crowpopper. Kelsee our daughter is four and she likes them. I actually have a few pics of her and daddy shooting. And Aaiden he’s going to be one on the 17th doesn’t know what a gun is yet. He’s seen them, but not sure what to think of them yet. I don’t have a problem with them having them. I know ed will teach them the safety of the guns and how to use them..Too bad I didn’t learn that one yet (poor dog) I can actually say in all my 24 years of life I never thought I would ever like guns. But they are a part of my life now so why fight it..

Dad found a Red Ryder in one of his rental house when I was little and he gave the gun to me. I spent endless summer days shooting at dixie cups and grasshoppers. I learned that BB’s trajectory so well I can still pick off dixie cups at 30 yds on a calm day. After that I got a Beeman #1783 Silver Bear Rifle and I shot that until it wore out. I then had a string of wal-mart “1000 FPS!!!” Rifles until I finally got a .22 RWS 350. Then a Hammerli 850 and now my trusty Talon. It’s a slippery slope I tell ya!
my dad and the rest of my family hunted so from age 3 i think and up ive been shootingevery since
im 26 now so i have had and sold more guns than i can remember
my wife shot my guns befor and liked them se used to shoot my “gamo pos” and was pretty good then all the sudded she went ass up and thinks guns are bad 🙄

hunter is 2.5 and always runs to the window going bang shoot squeeerrrel dddaaaaaaady the other one tucker he is 1.5 and makes a pistol shape with his hand and goes shwwwwew all the time

Guns got me into guns
Grandpa was a cop, and hunted with my dad alot, and we got to go too. Shot my first shotgun at 8, and had springers and a benji pump from before then. Then we got powdery for a while, then I moved here to Japan, and it’s completely illegal (like newscaster arrested for touching one illegal) without a whole lot of money and paperwork and tests, so I buy them and send them to my dad. Got an 850 being tuned, and looking for a .25 and up single shot, and probably a .22 repeater(850 on hPA or mdr)

Well as my Dad moved here from Germany I guess guns have always been part of his life both here and their so he wanted me to have them as well. He joined the Navy over here and had even more exposure to big thunder so as soon as I turned 12 got my first air gun think it was a .177 Telly. Then a Crosman .22 six shooter followed by a .22 LR Anshultz bolt action (still have it) and a Mossberg 12 gauge pump.
Then I shot my first semi auto an M1 Carbine and it was powder for me, then a .223 Mini 14, M1 Inland Carbine, SKS, AK, 10/22, AR-7, Squires, AR-15 .22 conversion kit, AR-15, CAR-15, M1A, 870 pump, M37 pump, and the list goes on, maybe a .338 next.
Now I am getting into airguns again, .22/.25 Condor, FA Drozd, 2250, EB22, SA6, MK1, 150, QB-57, Meteor, JAP, Red Ryder, 38T, and more.
It’s a sickness I tell you!!! 😆

I sure do Bean! Man I used to love going into Woolworth’s to get those disc shooters. Those things were pretty accurate. I wonder what the fps was on them??? Probably like 24. They were loads of fun.

Welcome aboard, and remember there is a bunch of guys here with some serious mental problems, with a sick sense of humor.
Other than that this place is a great resource for the Airforce line of guns, and other things as well.
Back to your post, well jeez, can’t really recollect what got me into shootin thing, air and powder, just know it is a heck of a lot of fun.
Especially the air guns, I really enjoy the airguns.
Ed, well what can I say, just well ughh, mnnngh, ohhhgh, well nothing.

My best friend’s Mother REFUSED to let him play with a cap gun. They were just way too dangerous (this was 35 years ago btw). So we decided to work on my Mom. I had lots of cap guns, then lots of disk guns (anybody else rember those??) and something pretty close to what you would call airsoft these days. It’s been all downhill since.
I took a 20 year break from the hobby, but I’ve made up for the time away by spending 20x as much since i got back into it.
I was five years old and the idiot farmer next door let me shoot his shotgun. After the old dear was done fixing me up and tearing him a new arsehole I was kind of hooked.

Yes zilog we all have our things. I must say shooting is relaxing. And yes it keeps your mind on what you are doing. My main thing is singing. I love to sing. My dream in life is to be a country singer. Then I could get my hubby whatever gun he wanted and as much pellets as he wanted..After I gave to charity if course..LOL..But thanks again guys for all the stories. It’s neat how a lot of you shared it with your dads and now sharing it with your kids!! It’s great to pass things on. 😀
