Q:

New Talon Project

Had gotten this Condor on a trade…. didnt come with a tank so I picked up a Talon tank from a member here.

Since I got a Pulaskius one piece stock coming for my .25, I put the grips on my .25 on this gun.

The Talon tank didnt have the neoprene cover so I wrapped it with parachute cord, added a WokButt, threw on an old brake, and added an E-TaC to it. The combination of the E-TaC and WokButt makes it a very comfortable feeling gun.

Did a bit of tophat tweaking the other day on it and wanted decent power and good consistency… I think I did ok. I used Premier 14.3gr to test since I had plenty of them. Turns out they grouped well, too.

3000psi fill down to 2400psi….

About 2500 psi down to about 1900 on a Blod valve.

Another question I should of asked last time. What weight of pellets?

About 2500 psi down to about 1900 on a Blod valve.

Thats how I do mine anyway. Start at 940, climb to 980, and back down to 940. I get 30 good shots with that.[/quote]

Sweet! Hey Pab. what psi do you start and end with?

Hey Rob did you get a chance to measure it yet? Also (and this question is to anyone who cares to chime in) What’s the thought on using the beginning (Front?) of the bell curve velocity as the stopping point for the back side? I.E. Starting at 1000/peak at 1050/stop at 1000 and whatever the shot count you can get, it is what it is? Your thoughts.

that is a Talon tank I’m using on it…. I got it used. I dont know if it’s been worked over or not.

Far as the Micrometer tank, I think those are designed to shoot quite a bit lower….. and to be honest, I’ve never seen great strings from them. I considered getting one, but I have a restrictive valve stem from Tony that does better IMO.

Hey Rob are you just useing a stock Talon tank on that ??

think Id be better with the talon tank or the micro meter for my condor?

I was looking for better shot consistancy

Very nice string Rob.

I think I’m going to have to eventually break down an buy another tank with a talon valve. It’s way too much trouble to empty the tank and change out the valve when I want to shoot .22 in t the SS. 😉

Mike

Sorry KM… Just now seeing this.

I’ll have to measure, but the TH is turned quite a bit…nearly bottomed out, actually…. enough to where the inner stem is poked through a bit.

I havent measured it, sorry….

Well Crap, Rob I ask the wrong question. You said you had the top hat turned in quite a bit. What does it measure?

What ya got the pw turned in to Rob?

Mike

Thought I had that in my original msg, but after checking, I forgot to add it… I do have the sheet here and the PW is set to 4-0. I tried a bit less preload and it wasnt near as consistent….so I kept it at 4-0.

What ya got the pw turned in to Rob?

Man Rob, i never got that valve to go over a thousand FPS, what hammer setup are you using? One hell of a shot string. 😯 Guess my ears won’t be burning anymore. 😆

magic….. haha…

i’m using the stock parts for a Condor with that tank…. Tophat is turned in quite a bit and PW at 4.

I know back in the day, we used to use a stock talon valve with a condor hammer weight and had the PW turned to ‘0’ and it worked very well for decent power and consistency.
