Help with my springer
I was at Sports Authority a few months ago and saw a Winchester 1000SB with 3-9X32 scope for $59.99 minus 20% ($48) so I couldn’t resist. I’ve probably put 2k rounds through it. The first few rounds were supersonic and it grouped reasonably well. Now I can hardly get a quarter-sized group at 12 meters and it’s only generating 760fps with (.177) Premiers.
Any suggestions?

The old seal had 2 grooves about .050″ deep. I didn’t see anything that would have caused it. I assumed maybe a piece of pellet was ingested as it was cocked and later expelled???
I was just wondering what the likelihood was that it’d burn off the excess lube before the seal dies. I’ll just pull it apart again if it persists.
I did some work on the trigger while I had it apart. Maybe a 40% reduction on the previous 9lb pull, and a huge improvement in feel. Like putting a dress on a pig I suppose, but it’s Winter.
I did get a raccoon with the Condor a couple of days ago with a JSB Monster. Seemed to be living in the ceiling of the gazebo by my pool. Must have been 20 lbs.
It’s back up to 980fps with CPs and the accuracy’s back. Not sure I fully understand why 200fps made the accuracy take a dump…
Put it back together with a little moly grease on the piston and now it diesels about 1/4 of the time. I took it apart and removed much of the grease, but the problem hasn’t gone away completely.
What’s the life expectancy of my pricey new seal? 😥
…..as long as there are no burrs or inconsistencies in the compression tube…and as long as you dont burn your seal from dieseling, it should last a long, long time. Would have been interesting to know what caused the old seal to go bad, because if you didnt resolve that issue, it will likely happen to the new seal….
To burn off the excess oils, try shooting 15 or 20 heavy pellets such as Kodiaks.
Well, I finally tracked down a seal – $18+$12 shipping for my $48 gun.

It’s about 1.05 OD x .54 ID (tapered) x .18 thick
i believe on that gun it is the small apex seal
I’d guess one of these seals would work, but I don’t see an explicit listing for my gun.
Cool, that the only info I could find, I am glad that help.
That’s it. Thanks!
I found a link below but not sure if it’s the right 1 or not. Check it out yourself.

That trigger group looks nothing like mine, not even the internals. I used a Galco knife honing set, and a small fine file to work over my trigger. I put hours into it, but the end result was worth it, reduced from the factory 15# trigger pull to a manageable three or four.
my bad you are correct i put up the wrong link let me find the other i have and i will try to post it for you gt

Swab the barrel, but don’t get it real clean & try it again. Shoot it off a soft rest 2″ or so ahead of the trigger guard (at balance point) and see what it does if all is tight & seals are good.
May be pulverizing your scope….Had a B21 that ate scopes for breakfast–or maybe rethink your hold since it has setteled down a bit… cant really beat those for 50 bucks…Had a Sierra Pro that simply didnt shoot straight after 1000 rounds or so- gave it to a buddy and he thinks its the best thing since grits… 😆

Could have been caused by debris or by improper installation at the factory. If you didnt find any burrs in the compression chamber, you should be ok.
Run 15 or 20 Kodiaks through that thing and the oils will burn off. Seal damage due to deiseling is not common. Detonations will damage seals much quicker. You should be fine there.
As to dress on the pig… hey… it’s all fun and learning. I’ve done my fair share of turd polishing and the fact is that many of these guns will perform admirably if the time is taken to go through them and pay attention to the smaller details!
