FYI Selphb/Blod valve owners.
I have only ever used the Blod valve with about 0.118 of top hat AS PER BLODS INSTRUCTION. This requires the use of a flat faced breech. I’ve seen you guys over there with the top hat wound right out to use with a standard AF breech with the well. I thought I would try this and see the results….
What a pile of poo!! 😯 Certainly no increase in power, fps is all over the place compared to what it can do, and it uses shit loads of air!!
Would be interesting to see some feedback from the guys who have one of these valves, with what breech etc….

Yeah, amazing when someone ACTUALLY LISTENS and uses a flat faced breech to wind that tophat in etc 🙄 🙄 😆
😯
Looks like I’m gong to have to get one of those valves after all ! 😉

ending pressure 1400 looks pretty good to me the pellets were not that consistent some tighter than others but 60 shots WOW
Looks somewhat better 😉
Just need to fine tune the spacers now to smooth it all out a bit.
Yeah, add a couple hundred psi and break it in a bit and your going to make everyone else nuts with the string it shoots!
Graph of the results –

Shows that there is a somewhat decent enough curve (and that I should fill a little higher) so given that there are a ton of brand new parts in there I’m thinking it will settle down a bit.
That looks like the valve and settings combination has great promise. It seems a little erratic though. Do you suppose it just needs to settle in (such as the valve seal taking a set or the hammer bushings breaking in) or is there a chance that there might be a burr or two hanging things up? I’m not really thinking burr as in something you’d cut your finger on but rather something that is enough to upset smooth movement.
I’ve seen your work so please don’t think I’m suggesting sloppiness. I just don’t know if this is an expected first string. Maybe these guns wear in after some initial erratic shots. Being a novice at this configuration, I’d be looking for tracks and probably smearing in some graphite just to be sure.
12″ barrel. I just put it back together today (valve included) so it still needs to settle down a bit. There were 2 dud shots of 684 and 701 right after each other.

That looks like a very nice string, seems like it could have gone on for about another 20 shots or so. Seems like what ive been looking for but sadly I am broke at the moment
Dave
Now that is great!
good job
thank you
OK here’s what I did

there has to be something i’m missing, i’m using a 21″ .25 cal barrel blod spring, spacers instead of power wheel ( no preload ) 50g hammer
Sounds like the two stock Talon valves I have… One shoots about 400-500 fps faster than the other at the same settings…

nalby, your fill pressure is too high.
Try this set up and you should be in the right ballpark.
Reduce to 2500 psi.
The length of your hammer and spacers should be about 78mm(3.070″)
Top has is set right, and you have correct hammer weight for flinging Kodiaks..
To shoot the JSBs, reduce spacers by about 5mm from the above setting and only use around 2300psi.This will give you about 30 shots with the JSBs.
Blod valve does not need high pressure fills to do its job.
Yes dude.
One or two things to sort out and i’ll be on it.
Got another to make also.
Later, Sean.
Sweet! I’m not in any hurry (shit, it took me a full month to get it in the mail), just curious if it arrived… 😉
Same amount of travel tho’.
when you over next ?
we’ll sort that O ring out.

Sean, have you received the th & stem in the post yet?
Yes dude.

My end pressure was 1500psi if it matters to anyone.
