I over tightened TH screws, please help
I overtightened TH screws and can see indents when I look into the valve, I can’t turn the TH and am worried that the indents will effect the air flow. I am not sure what I need to replace these parts, can anyone help me. Also, the valve was tuned by Tony, are the replacement parts going undo what he did? Or do I need a brand new tuned valve from him, which I shouldn’t be buying right now.

if your valve is not opening consistantly it will affect your groups but you will also see this if you shoot it over a chrony….if the varriance isn’t that bad then i would look at what i was doing differently when shooting….but thats just me
Can the valve or using a different spring affect accuracy?
I have the gun shooting like before I played with valve, same speed same pressure. I had to use a stiffer spring in the gun to achieve this.
I was using Kodiaks and Seven Rings, both which worked good for me before, now I was lucky If I got 3″ group at 60yds. The Kodiaks were probably between 1040-1050fps and seven rings 820-830. Same as before.
There was a little wind today 5-10mph how much could that affect the pellets? the wind wasn’t blowing all the directions the pellets and slugs were going so I don’t think it was that. I will try again when there is no wind.
Also I have a shroud which is not being clipped.
oh! duh ok I am an idiot you mean the th itslef got crushed. I thought the screw got damaged my bad. I never looked at that but I did not tighten that much. I use the loctite and do not tighten real tight
its the gap between the bottom of the tophat and the rest of the valve. If you loosen the set screws you can change it by turning the tophat.
O.K so what do you mean by set it at .70,can someone enplane this procedure for me

It asists with closing and sealing the valve.
If your valve is not leaking or dumping air and if you are getting good strong shots after a fill, it is fine.

If you over tighten the th screws, it can slightly crush the stem.
To correct this, you can use the shaft of a drill/s bit to slowly work the deformation back out again.(MAKE SURE STEM IS NOT ON BOTTLE WHILST DOING THIS!!)
Or as Wok once suggested, always have a correct sized drill bit shaft down the stem BEFORE you start to tighten up the th. This will stop the crushing in the first place.
I have loosened and set my tophat and tightened many times. What are you guys talking about with the drill bit shaft? line up what? I tightened mine and used the lock tight that comes off (after I was done tuning for extra heavy kodiacs. Now you have me second guessing what I did! 😆

joe it probably turned in after it came loose,loosen set screws and set it at about .70 or so with a set of feeler gauges and stick a drill bit shaft the appropriate size in the top hat hole when tightining it to prevent bending it like assman did.
My wife’s talon was making some mouse farts and I saw that the T/H was loose ,I found a small allen wrench and tighten it up,I personality dont have a clue what Im doing ,but it still shoots the mouse fARTS sometimes not all the time .Do I need to send it to Tony?
like I said I dont know what Im doing much less fixin it ,I have only been shooting Airforce for 2 months,it looks like I could fu&*K something up here.
Any ideas or links on this would be helpfull
I don’t know much about it. The hardest part for me was not tightening the set screws to hard. Everything else came apart and went back together easily.

I didn’t have it over the chrony today, but it had been getting some good numbers. I guess Ill try again tomorrow.
