converted my 2260 pistol into custom carbine…
…I did not like the way it balanced. A 14″ barrel is a bit much especially with the 2260 tube…it feels much better as a carbine. I fabricated the custom cheek riser from a bunch of stainless and billet parts I had left over from my chopper and 56 chevy.
You can raise up the cheek weld by adding shims between the two pieces of stainless. And depending on how Fat your mellon is, you can swing the top piece to the left to make it wider. The lop is not adjustable however, although it could be done easily if one wanted to. This carbine shoots cp 14.3 at 600fps and it liks cp’s, predators, and jsb’s equally well.

I took the valve out and it looks perfect. No damage, the spring inside works and the pin moves back and forth freely when pushed. ????
I put the OEM valve back in and the pistol works fine.
I’m sending the valve back to Boss for replacement. My OEM gets 425 fps and the Boss was going 525 fps, so its worth the effort.
I didn’t take it apart because I wouldn’t know what was broke even if it popped out and put out my last good eye!

so what your saying is that your valve stem is piercing the cart as evidenced by the dump when you take pressure off of the cart to remove, but when you cycle it and fire…nothing happens, despite the cart being full of co2,is this correct?
Even if the rubber valve face seal melted closed wouldn’t the hammer strike cause the pierce pin to penetrate the melted rubber seal and allow—albeit minimal— co2 to exit the valve into the breach?
If so, could the transfer port be filled solid with melted o ring or poly tube?
Did you take it apart to see what is going on in there?
what about it is not working. I’m very curious as I’m sure others will be as well. Can you elaborate on what is happening when you fire it??? Thanks,

Here’s what I did. I put a new C02 cart in the gun, put it in the boat and spent two hours snake hunting. When I got back, no shots fired, the gun was very hot to the touch. I took it to the porch and tried to discharge it prior to going inside. Everything worked, except no gas release. I figured the cart had emptied for one reason or another.
The trigger works, the hammer works, the safety works, the spring works, but it will not release gas.
I took out the existing cart, and it was full, vented a full load of C02. I put in a new cart, punched out the pellets with a cleaning rod, put the gun in the 77 degree gun closet for 11 hours and tried it again. Same-same.
Boss has asked me to return the valve for replacement, and will include some pellets for my postage costs. Nice guys.
I’m wondering if I accidentially melted a seal or O-ring. I never would have guessed the gun would get that hot. Still, mid-day sun in the mid-South, with temps near 100 degrees, shining on a black pistol. I’m thinking it was my fault. I don’t feel right about Boss having to absorb my cost for stupidty.
I’ll put the old valve back in and see if that clears it up. Might take a look at the seals and such to see if I melted the dang things.

I was shooting in the 525 fps range, and decided to hop in my little boat and go looking for that snake that crawled up on my porch a few nights ago and scared hell out of me and my dog. I’ll know him if I see him…he’s long, dark shaded, and doesn’t seem to blink much! Rotten bastard!
Well, anyway, here in scenic Arkansas, even up in the mountains, it’s reaching near a 100 degrees and 90+ humidity. I was out in that boat for two hours. Both me and the gun got one hell of a sunburn. Gun was so hot I couldn’t hold it bare handed when I got back.
I wrote Boss valves and asked for any suggestions. He said extreme heat can cause problems. He recommended cool it down and try again.
Well, it’s been inside for six hours and I just dry fired it about 50 times and it’s not working. So I’ll write him back and see what happens. I’m sure he’ll stand behind it, as it’s brand new.

Looks good… I thought you had perhaps took some EZ Off to a Leapers. That scope probably has a 50 yard parallax setting. Are you aware that you can change that on a fixed AO scope? I’ve done several and changed them from 50 and 100 yard down to 35 for airgun ranges. Just FYI if you werent aware.
Honestly, I have to say that gun is 100% the nicest I’ve seen using the plastic stock. If Airgunartisans were still doing their ‘Mod of the Month’ that would be a shoe in. Simply superb.

Yes, that is a silver “cheapy” Osprey international 3×9 with illuminated reticle. So far it has passed the “box” test. Nice crisp clicks on the turrets..not bad for I think 50.00. I got it from Sportsmans Guide.

I believe you can get those foregrips through Crosman, but don’t quote me on this. I think they come from a 1399 model. Someone may chime in if I’m mistaken.
This particular carbine is regular c02 carts. It is a Don Cothran 2260 tube. I am getting 600 fps with the 14.3 gr cp’s. I used stock 2240 spring and a stock hammer, but I polished the hammer, the inside of the frame, and I modded the valve (ported, polished, and counter sunk tp poly tube)the barrel was poly tube modded by Alejandro from AC Custom parts. He does excellent work! I have heard stories of guys getting 630 to 650 on similar setups with 14″ barrels 😯 I’d like to know how??? 😈

I have a 2300 I’m struggling with, and that 14″ barrel begs for an up-front hand hold.
I particularly admire that pressure tube. Is that bulk fill C02, or HPA? My little 12gr is doing the job, but I can only get it up to 525 fps with Crosman 14.5gr pels. I’m assuming you are using HPA and filling it to 2500 to 3000 psi. I’m wondering how many shots you get with that?
