Q:

DIY rifles

Hi,
I’ve been reading this forum for two years, registered a couple of months ago… and has now finally got around to write my first post. Anyway, thanks to all for loads of info and inspiration! I really hope that i dont mess up the picture posting…
heres a few pics of some of my home built air guns;
This was the first one i built. Built after blueprints from Mr HM Buckleys book.

next up was a bullpup version, here pictured unfinished. It si now sporting a 15shot magazine (i’ll see if i can find a better pic..)

this one has a side lever oprated bolt, transfer port design ad modum Steyer… Since this picture I have built an adjustable butpad..
I have also made an adaptor so that i can fit a 600cc bottle and fill it useing a FX fill probe.

All the working parts of my guns are designed by ( or very much inspired by..) the work of mr HM Buckley, UK.
Thanks

Thanks for the Pictures Supermono, that’s a very nice collection of rifles you’ve made there.

It never ceases to amase me he things people are building in their shops, from scratch.

Those guns are wonderful.

The butt design is pretty much a copy of something I saw on this forum… By loosening the bolt at the bottom of the pistol grip it is possible to slide the grip back and forth app 25mm to get the proper grip-trigger distance.
Thanks

Awesome 😀

looks good, would love to see some better pictures of your adjustable stock 😀

heres some pics of my “big bottle conversion”.. Fill probe hole to fit stock FX probe.

Cheers

916 is still a very nice bike, Aprilia fan myself 🙂

I’m happy to say we don’t have those restrictions and I’m hoping to get my .25 up in the 170J range 😯

tweaking the valve design to get better air flow, so far it looks like the air will be making 2 35 degree turns instead of the 2 90 degree.

Still trying to figure out how large I should make the port.

Thanks for sharing your builds here, looking forward to the new ones.

Thank you very much for the kind words!
All of the above guns were built useing my lathes. I have two lathes; one SoutBend 9″ clone, and one unusual bench lathe with a vertical travel headstock – that makes it very useful as a horisontal milling machine. I have just recently bought a vertical milling machine… the sky is the limit now!
Ducati – yes! unfortunately not a supermono, but a 916.
I plan on building a new gun during the winter, in the design breif so far; side lever, autoindexing mag, front mounted bottle, quick fill adaptor, fully adjustable trigger, stock design along the lines of a AirRanger, and a regulator. That should keep me busy at least a couple of months!
Regarding triggers i found a Daystate manual on the internet the other day, (older model) that showed a fully adjustable trigger that looked pretty straightforward to build.. I’ll see if i can find the link somewhere.
We have strict law regarding airguns here.. power levels above 10J calls for a firearms permit, so i shoot at low power. Shot count is good with the 280bottle, and very good with the huge 600cc bottle. I’ll shoot some strings this weekend and see what it looks like.
Regarding accuracy the stock bottle gun is very good, not that pellet sensitive, gives “one-holers” at ten meters with pretty much anything. That gun has a .22cal 16mm diam Wheirauch barrel.
The Bullpup has a barrel taken from an old Diana 35, .177cal. Last winter i shot a 5 shot group measureing 35mm c-c at 70m. That was during perfect conditions, absolutely still air and a good support.
I have two barrels for the sidelever; one LW .22 cal from an old FX, and one short (260mm) .177cal LW. The .22 barrel is very pellet sensitive, JSB and some H&N stuff is good, but Milbro and other british pellets give flyers all the time. The .177 barrel is super accurate when fed with RWS R10 pellets.

verry nice :thumb:

Exellent!

Can somebody tell me – is anywhere in Internet digital copy of Mr. Buckley’s books? I want to download them 🙄

Damn…. 😯

Very, very nice work. Those are simply stunning……

Some details regarding shot count, velocity, accuracy if you have time.

Nice guns!!

Welcome to the forum

realy nice stuff , never tryed a thru bolt design before , your looks pretty sweet . you got a nice finish on them all aswell , great work .
even made your scope rings on one 🙂 nice

All of the work, at least on the first rifle, was done on a normal lathe
