Q:

New One Piece Stem!!!

Just received my new one piece stem from Dave424 😀 😀

Beautifully made and exactly to my requested specs 😎

I’m sure you are all aware of Dave’s work and his posts, a real sensible and talented guy.

What I bet you DIDN’t know, is that he is 17 years old 😯 😯

A few more young men like this and theres hope for my country yet. 😎 😎 😎

Anyone who has the factory 2 piece stem will know how crap they are. I’m sure Dave will make you one for a sensible price(what price can you put on an essential piece of kit like this??!!) Leupy does them for crazy money, and I’ve had both his and Dave’s in my hand and Dave’s is even better!!

Cheers Dave, you are a star mate 😀 😀 😀

Dave, time to post up a pic of yourself in the off topic thread 😀

🙂 Trust me, there is no shortage coming my way, thats what the weekend is for after fucking around on the lathe for like 4 hours 😀

Dave

You should spend less time in the gym and more time in some bird…. 😉 😆

Yeah, but it will be a long time until I find my self in that situation…… I hope so anyways 😀

Ive made some vast improvements since I started.

When I first started in September last year, my working dumbell bench press was 18kg / 40lbs in each hand, now it is 32kg / 70.5lbs.

I used to have 12″ circumferance arms, now they are 15.5″

Still going strong and improving greatly, looking to pack on some more bulk and size 😀

Dave

Nice one Dave 😀

Ah yes, the gym phase of life 😀
I remember that……
Then I got me a wife, then a house, then kids……. 😡 😆

Pab, the stem is in the works this weekend, havn’t have any time this week for anything really, just college work and gym time. Wanna get BIG! 😀

Dave

Yes Eddie, you can pop the stem out by gently levering it out with a couple of screwdrivers or similar(I just use one screwdriver. You can do this whilst the bottle is under full pressure( though for legal reasons I would advise you not to, 😆 ) But I’ve done it hundreds of times and its fine.
I tried the oring behind the top hat but it made it massively inconsistent due to the oring compressing differently each time.

That’s a good idea Walt I have seen orings used also I am assuming this gives a bit of a cushion and more consistent, Dave or Pab have you guys tried orings seen a couple post a while back where a guy posted using o rings especially lower top hat settings gives you a bit of a chusion and doesn’t allow it to bottom out 😆 Am I correct in saying that the top hat is sort of a slight press fit and it can be taken out without taking out all the internals and vavle assembly?

Nice, Pab and Dave.

The valve is still adjustable. Just use delrin seats with differing heights, or it would be a simple matter to adjust the height (one way, deeper) by cutting the seat surface down slightly. To adjust the other way (only shallower, less TH) you drill the hole in the delrin slightly deeper so it sits up higher. Or you could provide a set of delrin seats with the one piece stem, in say .010 increments. Delrin of that size is cheap and very easy to machine.

Hell ya no rush dude!!!!

Cool, ive got one or two things to get out before taking on anything else but I am happy to do it.

Dave

Heck ya!!!! Got paypal? I have my th at .074 gap but think it will get dropped to .072. Let me finalize my testing tonight and I will get that info back to.

I can remember most of it, but that is only memory.

I do have Pab’s original stem here so I will get the measurements down whilst it is here.

I wouldn’t mind making you one or two and sending them out if you pay postage?

Dave

hey dave what kind of measurements do you need to make one that’s basically stock th shape ?

quote pablouk:

I’m trying dude. Not long caught it on my desk which set it back a week or so. Have been told by the surgeon I’m looking at 8mths at least before its back to normal, if ever. 🙁

Oh damn that sucks big time. They ain’t gotcha in some sort of physical therapy?

Back from the pub (Under aged drinking but meh… its the countryside :D)

Yes the stems can easily be threaded internally so that you can use restrictors. You could have one at 20 FPE for field target, one at 30 FPE for high shot count hunting or remove everything and have all balls out 40-50 FPE for power shooting.

Also, another way of power regulation would to use just some very thin nylon washers that are placed behiend the tophat and reduce the travel, but I like the threaded restrictors better.
