Pit Bike Engine’s – Manual or Semi Automatic
I’m going to be buying a CRF50 style pit bike engine (probably a lifan)…. but need help deciding if I should get semi auto or manual clutch.
I have no problem operating a regular motorcycle…. only issue is that this wont have a footbrake, so there would need to be two lever’s on the left handlebar for the rear brake and clutch if I went with a manual.
Because of that I would just say screw it and get the automatic, but because I’ve never had one I’m concerned its going to be too much of a compromise or there’s some idiosyncrasy I’m not aware of with the semi auto’s because I cant find much info on their operation.

I had a leaky carburetter (needed the float adjusting) that caused the idle speed to be way too high – high enough for the clutch to engage the transmission. Thats why after I start it in neutral I roll it to the left as I didn’t want it to take off into the stream I was originally facing when I shifted into first. Luckily when I shift the brake’s held and it only jumped a bit.

And the carb leaking – Pretty “good” leak, but wasn’t that bad that it leaked while bike was in motion, only when idling.

Finished the bike a few week’s ago – Due to the weather I havent been able to ride it much, but when I do it makes me 😀

i don’t know on what machine you want to build it
but there are also semi auto engines with a reverse

Wow…That;s a Moped??? My how things change when you aren’t watching.
Somehow it reminds me of sky-diving…There ain’t nothing under ya until all of a sudden. In this case nothing under ya until you give it the gas and then you’re really flying.
If I were 50 years younger I’d surely like to give that thing a ride.
