Q:

…..1…..2……..30cal FX BOSS in The House

Well…..Rule #1…..Don’t Live in Arizona…..Rule #2…..NEVER….NEVER…..NEVER be at A.O.A when a New FX Shipment Arrives…..
Enjoy……It is everything your expecting and More!!!
Sorry..wish I had time for a detailed write up…I gotta get back to the range!!!!

The Stock is a deep rich color….

The New Trigger is …..well….ONE of THE BEST I have used….New Style Pellet Probe…

The Pellets….the say 46gr on the tin….But Ranged beteween 43ish…to 45.9ish

What can I say…9 Shot Mag!!!!

Shot String…..well pellets are in Limited supply and I need to concentrate on the Extreme B.R. Match next week … so not much time or Pellets to waste on Tuning..
Just Gotta shoot it the Way Fredrick set it up….I am Sure it will be just amazing…..BUT..Shot count is A SOLID 36 to 45…4 to 5 Full Magazines with a 230ish fill. I am still a little concerned about running it at the higher fill pressure but the Guys at A.O.A say I can fill it higher..

Only had time to do some limited shooting this afternoon….Winds were Gusting and Swirling in a
odd manner..pellets shot were weight sorted.. I did not have time to second guess a Brand New Gun/Caliber/Scope Combo… so reduced the variables as much as possible…(Group shot out of the Magazine)
These were the lightest Pellets running 73ish F.P.E !!!!!

Hear is the Problem…..This gun is one of the Most Fun Guns I have to shoot !!!!!
ACCURACY…..POWER….AND….GREAT SHOT COUNT!!!!!

Mark…

14months on Official Waiting list….23 Months Since I requested to be on List!!!…..Glad Someone is shipping Products we want…

OG… I have put a couple of posts over on the “yellow”…..but I don’t don’t care for that “Forum Format” over hear it is much easier to monitor and add to a thread.

Got chance to shoot a little more this morning…..All I can say is …W O W !!!!!!!

I was waiting for the FX 30 cal to come out and have been following “ALL Your work on the .257 project” ….I think this is a great candidate for it.
One of the new features is the Barrel Threads in to a “Brass Insert” in the receiver.

To day at the range….

I took my Mini-IPSC targets out…and set them at 50, 75 and 100 yards….the scope is set on 6X. I spent most of the time on the 75 yard target. I took plenty of pellets so my Fellow airgunners got a chance to pull the Trigger on the FX Boss…I was not the only one that was impressed.
….AND …..YES……I would call it “BACK YARD QUIET”…I am working on the video clip….(But I gotta learn how to use the software first….lol)

and then proceeded to pound the heck out of them…This may seem hard to believe but I ran 65 shots out of the gun on ONE FILL (240 bar down to 100 bar)….after the 5th magazine I did have to increase my hold from “Center” up towards the “Head and Shoulder” area….

Mark….

With about One Tin (150 count) of pellets down the BBL….approx 1/2 chrono work… and 1/2 sight in and
putting the Never seen before Pellet/Gun combo to work….
this is what I have seen to date (O’Yea…picked up the gun 4 Hours after A.O.A got the delivery…2 days ago…LOL!!!!)

Size….Basically a Royale 500….
Sound….Yes…..Back Yard Friendly…(Not just my opinion)
Weight…..Royal 500..
Recoil…Yup.. This “ain’t” your Grandpa’s B.B gun…..
Accuracy…50 yards and under with unsorted pellets (based on ability…well under 1/2 inch)
out past 60,70,80,90,100…..looking good so far) “see above 70yrd 9 shot group”…. Still need to calculate B.C.

Shot String……(Ran out of Air….Only Just made it to 230 bar…Only Just)
It’s really late..missed the sensors twice…Shane at AOA started well over 230 bar…but you
can ask him just how high..
So… High 875……low 862…..(Off reg 140 bar and still low 841…..that’s very close to the 30 fps rule for potential accuracy and Repeatability)
(Chronograph used is Oehler 35P)

Quick random Measurement….low side I found .300, on the high side .308

The lowest weight I found was 39.6gr (Not Shown)… Highest 45.7gr

With only 1350 pellets to set up and Practice for the match next week not a lot of extra for picky testing…..

DAMM; that looks good!

I was waiting for the 303 Wolverine to become available but; I now have my doubts on it! Your Boss seems to give a lot higher shot count.

I like that the FX BOSS can have an easy barrel swap! I am thinking that I could easily fit a .257” barrel to it, cast up some 60 grain bullets and still get 20-30 usable shots at around 850 fps.

What is the OA length of the gun and what is the barrel length?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Very interesting. This might be a lower cost alternative to the Wolverine if you want to step up to a .30 caliber pellet.

I wonder how those pellets compare to the JSB Emperor pellets? The Emperor’s are 7.62, 51.1g

That’s great! I went to AOA’s website and didn’t find any mention of it. What are the specs: legnth, weight, etc.? Congratulations! I look forward to hear how it performs over time.

Maybe now is a good time ask this question. What is the longevity of FX guns? I have heard that FX guns have a tendency of breaking and that it takes forever to get parts out of Sweeden. I was at the range one day with a guuy who had a semi-auto FX. I was excited to get a chance to shoot it. However, it broke and I never got the opportunity to try it. That experience did confirm what I had heard about a lack of reliability.

I so want to hear from FX owners that their personal experiences are better than that. What do you guys say???

The only long term positive story that I have heard is that of RC’s Royale 500 carbine.

Seriously Rossall, I hope that your Boss continues to perform well for many years to come.
