Q:

12 fpe fun

The other day I decided to see what the UK brothers are shooting when they are shooting 12 fpe. I had to lower my fps to 550 to achieve it with my 18.13 gr JSBs. I had my LDC on it and the hammer slap was much more comfortable to ears. Sounds like a spring going boing rather than crack! According to Chairgun, at 50 yds still yields 8.55 fpe which is plenty for knocking down birds. The gun is quieter than my prod and even quieter than my new ak-47 410 fps air soft. If you’re pesting within 50 yds and afraid of bothering the neighbors, this would be the ideal setup. Not to mention the shot count goes up a lot. I was outside shooting at 6 am.

To the UK shooters, are you mostly restricted to 50 yds when shooting 12 fpe? Placed an order with Rapid for his long fore grip custom stock. This is going to be my daily shooter for sure.

*note I am using a shorter spring than OEM. Got it from Ernest. As for the HST adjuster GKU sent me one of Imppu’s. Great little thing 🙂

Nice set up Greg. I remember having Donny’s combo to test, it was really sweet.

2am and your still up drinking beer and shooting?? Wow you got me beat…

Hi Zonk,
When the shopping malls call me for pesting, it’s very late and always after hours.
Before leaving I like to always check my zero especially after detuning it for indoor mall shooting. 😆
So that Donny CF Shroud/LDC comes in handy A REAL TOOL for the trades.

Yes with your CF Shroud/LDC 2 piece it very very ridiculously quiet. 😆

I can get by with the Shroud alone, because the hammer slap as soft as it is, it still louder then what’s coming out of the muzzle.
At 12 fpe there is a lot of vacuum effect as well as 8 fpe.
I can hear it sucking in very softly with virtually no hammer lap also.

It’s 2 am here in Hawaii and I’m shooting outside into a rubber mulch trap.

With the 22 I’m thinking of using JSB Express and RS to help with the trajectory, aw I’ll just have to see.

Shooting just got a bit more fun ,,,,,, , , ,, for this weekend for sure !!

Have you tried shooting the 12 fpe with a LDC on?

I pick up some springs from Amazon in lengths of 1.75″, 2″ and 2.25″ long, for cheap !

I used the 2″ long one in my 177 Cricket Compact and got the results below.
My reg set to 120 bar valve spring retainer set to 1 turn after contact.

With JSB 8.44g.
With the Imppu HST at 0 turn it doing 650 fps (7.92 foot-pounds)
At 2 turns it’s doing 780 fps (11.4 foot-pounds)
At 5 turns it’s doing 950 fps (16.92 foot-pounds)

With JSB 10.34g.
With the Imppu HST at 0 turns it’s doing 605 fps (8.41 foot-pounds)
At 2 turns it doing 725 fps (12.07 foot-pounds)
At 5 turns it’s doing 890 fps (18.19 foot-pounds)
At 7 turn it’s doing 930 fps (19.86 foot-pounds)

It’s pretty cool I think that I got all this variability with just one spring, from about 8-20 fpe !!!
I think if I removed a coil I could get it down to 6 fpe ?

I haven’t try it in my 22 Standard ,,,, ,,, ,, , yet, maybe this weekend.

It’s been 12 ftlb law for long time zonk was brought in as British gun company’s couldn’t keek up with the like of Weihrauch ect in power back in the springer days was away of keeping us buying British guns not German ect

Wow Dave that’s BULLSHIT!!! Sounds like you guys got to many Liberals over there like we do here…. Feel safer now??

Lads already no how to tune there guns mate the law states it the owners responsibility (not forums or info) we risk prison of up to 5 year for been in possession of a air rifle over 12ftlb with out the required licence crazy isn’t it lol

[quote=”GKU”]Wow, okay Dave that sound great.

I need to be careful when I reply, I don’t want to accidently make a newbie there exceed 12 fpe.
I’ll join up and hang around to read up for awhile before I start to post.

Thanks for all the info, I always wonder where Nutty and Immpu hung out.

~ ATB ~ GKU[/quot You may not want to know where Nut hangs out….

That’s a good question Donny, What happens if you guys over the big pond, Or even Canada get caught shooting a over 12 FPE gun, ?????
I know In Texas you get caught shooting any powder gun out of a vehicle on a public road you loose your gun and vehicle,
I ask about a BB gun or pellet gun and the Warden said depends on how old you are, LOL….. He looked at me like I was stupid,,, and drove off… Ha Ha.

I joined the Bullpup Mad forum last night and their facebook page. I am not able to see much on the forum but on FB seems like these guys are doing pretty well on their hunts. Do you know what the penalty is for shooting over 12 fpe without acquiring the proper paperwork?

Both forum and groups are mine and a mates you won’t say any thing wrong lads pretty much same sort of censorship as here none we have a few lads what have complained about language or content there asked to leave if they don’t like it feel free to contribute only rules we have is no copying others intellectual ideas or scamming and obviously threats of violence ect uk forums ave way too much censorship ect already regarding tuning or power where hoping to bypass this by getting members from other country’s involved taking it will never be thi as bullpups arnt thought of the sae as like in USA 😉

I no at min it looks more a p12 forum but that’s just as lads with edguns crickets ect are wary in the uk due to are stupid governments rules but they will contribute in time as for the Facebook group I personally don’t post much on it as its full if un informed childish shite with a ongoing feud between edgun vs crickets ect . Then u got so called experts/dealers making claims about both guns which then leads to me having to post here to ed ect to clear up matters wish ed would join both to inform lads of true facts but seriously there’s nothing u can say wrong on each mate there’s some skilled tuners machinists on both with he likes of Blodnob / Nutshot /Phild / bucket boy /Immpu / now the holland lads napperd ect are jouning in ect there more info the better it’s only just gone online so will be low at min but will take off as some uk ads have already tried to have it taken offline by reporting it but to no avail atvb Dave Goodall

I would like to but, I’m still reluctant to join in at Bullpup Mad forum.
So use to TAG, don’t know if I might say or do the wrong thing you know ? 😳

I have a BSA S10 thats shooting 10.4 fpe with AA fields and I love that rifle. Quiet and still hits birds with plenty of authority. I have killed Colombian ground squirrels out to 36 yds with a perfect head shot with ease and they have solid heads compared to birds so that tells you how far you can take squishy targets out to.
