125 yards with Lizzy ( Condor)
Did a little shooting at what I would call long range yesterday and this is what I came up with. Was 125 yards with 25.4 grain JSB. Need some work would like to try to get them all in the 9 ring. would like to see your long range groups and just how you all are getting it done.

My opinion I think the trick to getting smaller groups that far out is the shot to shot consistancy
3,4,5, Fps difference isnt going to make a big difference at close range but the further ya go, the more magnification it gets , and groups start to open.
Nebraska, you’re not dreaming although some will tell you that trying to
shoot a chipmunk at 100yds is irresponsible because you might lame him
instead of killing him…. Well I say, if you practice enough, and the conditions
are right, take the shot….. Have fun, long range shooting is a blast.
Jeff, I have a ZOS on her right now 10-40- it has 4 mil dots and when sighted in at 40 I have to use the post at 125 yards. Now that hunting season is over I thought that I would try to stretch her legs a bit. The goal is to take a 100 yard woodchuck. But to to that I will have to really tighten up the groups.
Mamcrackin- thanks. I got up before work and tried it out. It’s foggy and we got a bit of a breeze but from what I can tell it’s workin as advertised. We got a place that is set up great for long range pigeons and so far longest kill has been 86 yards. Being able to hold the cross hairs on target will be a big help. The S-410 Is getting tuned and when she gets back from Greg’s I am going to do her the same way for chipmunks. 100 yard chipmunk- am I dreaming 😯 Thanks again.
My zero is at 25 yards and when I pest I use 10 power I never adjust my scope just add mildots for the range. Shooting around 1000 fps using 25 grain .25 JSBs drop is about the length of a gopher standing up so I just do the Kentucky windage thing works well once you are dialled in.

I use mil dots and sight in at 40 yards also. I have a Leapers scope set at 9x for my long distance shooting. How many mil dots does your scope have? My leapers has 6 and then a post so really 7 but my hawke only has 4 and a post. I do most of my shooting at 40-100 yards so my setup works fine since I am 4 mil dots low at 100 yards.
If you do most of your shooting at long range you need adjustable scope rings/mount or a mount with elevation built in.
The higher the power on the scope, the quicker you will run out of
mildots…. Try zeroing your scope at around 10yds on X10… (I think I
have my EDgun set at around 7yds so I can shoot out to 200yds) This
should give you enough mildots at long range…. Once you see where you
are hitting at 100yds, you can adjust your elevation to hit right in the
cross-hairs…. Once you have that done you can zoom in as much as you
want and still use the cross-hairs to aim…. When you change
magnification the mildots will change but the cross-hairs will stay the same
once zeroed at 100yds…. Keep track of how many clicks it takes so you
can return the elevation back to the original setting when you are done.
I sometimes shoot better at lesser magnification because at high mag you
will see a ton of movement in the reticle and it is sort of un-nerving… If
you are using sand bags for front and back support then it is probably
better to use high magnification as the gun is practically shooting itself…
Nebraska I think hitting the target that many times at that distance is good, I would need more power then 10x to hit the target.
Very nice. Gentlemen, I was wondering if you all use mil dots or do you click? I think I might be missing something. What range do you sight in at before you do 100 yards? At 10 power, I sight in at 40 yards and at 125 yards I run out of dots. And if I turn my scope up the worse it gets. Like I said I think I my be missing a key factor in the scope equation. Any help would be appreciated.
100 yards JSBs .22 in slight wind Condor tuned at 2600 psi fill.

Nice shooting!
I will try 125 yards next time I get the chance but for now 100 is the longest I have went and have only shot 5 shot groups.
100 yards with my .22 Talon from a sitting position shooting 15.9g JSBs at 880fps

I don’t get a chance to shoot past 100 yards that often because I have to go to the range and the 15.9g does not do well in wind at 100+yards so I have to wait for a calm day.
very Nice!
I look forward to doing some of that in the near distant future 🙂
Sweet!! 😎

I think your goals are reasonable. Like mamcrackin said just practice, wait for the right conditions, and practice practice practice. For me one of the hardest parts in shooting game at anything over 60 yards is actually getting the shot. I would love to take a squirrel at 100 yards but I have never had one stay in sight long enough at long distance for me to range him and take the shot or I can still see him but there is too much brush to take the shot. By the time I range him accuratly he is moving again, I don’t like to miss so I won’t take a wild guess if he moves more than a few yards because being a few yards off at long range is an easy miss.
