200 fpe with 7 rings
Did a little testing today and got 1139 fps with 7 rings and 976 fps with 9 rings. Would have done 6 rings but 7 ring is cracking a little so the 6 ring would for sure.

think he said he got a ported blod setup…also a re-threaded catalina tank if im not mistaken…so valve and powerplant are purely custom…keep rockin, man, this is beginning to get interesting 😯
This is stunning velocity and power. Did you have to do any modifications to your Condor tank and valve to handle helium? Is there any risk/danger in doing this, like the tank exploding etc?
I made the dimple bigger and hopefully I’m good now. Trying to keep it in the gun is my only weak link now. There was other damage also. Blew my power wheel screw off also. Going to have to make a larger first bushing and put a o ring in it to stop the air from going around it. Had power wheel maxed out and it looks like so much is coming back it pushed the power wheel towaeds the breech. Broke the side off where it screws in. Have to rotate it and poke another hole in it tomorrow. This is why I’m going to make my own frame out of larger tubing and it will all screw together.

That is also the problem with SHROUDS and LDC’S….most of them are designed for certain UP TO power and i’m afraid you passed the limit of yours….lol
Have to take it out and shoot it at distance. I know it tried to push my shroud off the end of my gun. Took me 1/2 hour to get it off. I have a set screw top and bottom with a dimple for each one. Going to make deeper dimples for the set screws.
That’s just funny power now! Are any of them flying even reasonably accurate at those speeds?
Did some more testing with helium. Turns out a modified condor valve flows more helium than my Blod valve.
9 ring 1086 fps 230.5 fpe
7 ring 1203 fps 225 fpe
6 ring 1251 fps 215 fpe
Tomorrow I will change out the stem and see how a stock condor valve does. I need a new back stop. This thing is destroying my 6×12 piece of lumber I shoot into. Can wait to make my .308. Lathe is on a truck and is expected Tues or Wed.
Yup, curious about the 9’s on helium. I have no explanation. I’m assuming that the pressures were the same and there wasn’t an unobserved change like the rifle laying in the sun before the 7 ring shots etc…
It will be interesting to see how fast the 6s go, even more interesting to see if they stay reasonably accurate going that fast.
I’m going fire up the helium this weekend and see what a condor valve can do. I’ll try a couple 6 rings and see if they break 1200 fps.
hmmm… could it be that Helium being lighter in density than Air, was stifled by the 9-ring frictional resistance and turbulated in the barrel ?

What was also weird was the 7 rings shot harder then the 9 rings. With air the 9 rings shoot harder.
Thanks. Yeah my interest is mostly with the reg set ups. I’m still working on more volume and lower pressure reg. So far 1800 psi reg gets me right around 970 fps and 80 shots with .25 JSB’s before it comes off reg. I’m going to a 1600 or 1700 to slow it down a little and maybe get 100 shots. I have 2 tanks for power. One with modded condor valve and one with a blod valve that I’ve played with. The blod valve is where all my numbers come from. As soon as I make a new stem for it I think the numbers with go up 20 fpe.
Well right now your gun and Cedric’s are at the top along with the original Barnes test gun that hit 147. We never really tried to max out the test gun and backed it off to something that was more in reach for the guys tuning Condors at the time.
The test gun has gone on to other things so you appear to have the strongest .25 in service and darn close to the strongest ever on air. (Of course, I might be way wrong, I’ve not researched to see if anyone else has made a useable .25 that is stronger than the custom .25s here. It might be better to talk about Condor records but then again, has anyone else heard of a stronger .25?)
About getting called on BS, I think guys here have figured out some basic characteristics th BS’ers share and you don’t fit that mold!

This has been some great reading here… I just wonder if the helium being lighter than air and when its released as quick with it being shot like this, it would tend to warm up as its ripping and getting smashed up against the pellet as they leave the barrel, the helium just rises totally off from following the pellet much quicker and thus just letting the pellet do its think un- interrupted!!!
The lack of the air, or in this case the helium continuing to push the pellet; that would all so quickly slow way down in the atmosphere once in the wide open space once it leaves the barrel… Seems to me that the helium rises and just lets the pellet fly freely and not drag it down somewhat as the fired charge of propellent continuing to follow the pellet…
That make any sense of all this??? Dang sure some serious power and now the answer on how they group???
