Q:

22 and 25 cal cricket shot string

ok finally got my shoebox freedom 8, yesterday from Tom. let me tell you guys this thing is awesome. filled my scuba 88cu from 2900 psi to 4500 psi in 2.5 hours this morning. so i finally get to play with my crickets
i went out to the range this afternoon to test the shot string on the 25 cal long cricket, i havent really shot for accuracy yet . i filled the cricket to the line where the green meets the yellow, the pin being half on tellow half on green and started firing down range, this is what i came up with
shooting jsb king 25.39 grains

I think IMO is better making shot strings from max pressure 220 bar to 130 approx because it has more predicative information! Who will fill up cricket with 290bar usually? From 300bar bottle it will be max 2 times. Therefore is better for us information how many shots I can get from cricket from “standard” pressure 220-130bar.
It is only my suggestion. I know for test and record is good to know how many shots I can get from 300bar but in the real live is not necessary πŸ˜€

I thank you all for the compliments .

The setup belongs to a dear friend of mine, who like me are very passionate about our air rifles.

What happened was the day before we did this test I seem to have found the “sweet spot “on the adjuster , the spread at that time was ridiculous and we decided to do a proper recorded evaluation.

The Cricket is out the box. I only cleaned the barrel with an abrasive compound like a motor car polish.
Also, I removed the hammer and spring which I cleaned and re-installed dry with no lubrication.
The performance improved over time so at the current shot count of around 3000 the bug settled nicely.

Ok, so here is what I have so far:

JSB 15,89GR PELLETS

The velocity on this Cricket can be adjusted from 910 to 930 quite easily with the adjuster.
However, it DOES have a sweat spot, on this Cricket, 913fps is the mark!!!
The way I figured this out was every time the pressure got low and the velocity dropped from 925 to 915fps, I could put several pellets trough the same hole.

So adjustment was done accordingly which did the trick.
πŸ˜€

endothelium…… The pressure was close to 130bar.

Mater, very nice rig indeed.
The shot-to-shot variation is very impressive as consistently shown in the Cricket. Was this done in stock setting?
The speed drops ~20 fps at shot #85 from shot #1 — do you know what pressure was at shot #85? I used mean velocity, ~910 fps, estimated from the graph, to calculate air efficiency, which is about 17.1 cc-bar/ft-lb.
A very impressive Cricket.

Nice set up what are u a rocket scientist? L.o.l that’s pretty neat stuff
1 question it looks like it’s shooting in the 920s did you do any adjustments to it? Maybe just lighter pellets.

WOW is right Trygve 😯 Mater nice diggs and the little Crickets are coming around as the real deal πŸ˜€ πŸ™‚ 😎
Thanks for your input and I’m envious also πŸ™„ πŸ™„ πŸ˜€

wow !!!! 😯 πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

ThatΒ΄s a serious string…..!!!

And not to mention your facilities….!!!!

IΒ΄m impressed…..

And envious….. 😳

Cheers from Trygve in Sunny Lanzarote… πŸ˜€

Here is a shot string I did yesterday with a 5.5 Cricket std.

I used a full mag at every string so the total was 98 shots.
The starting pressure was 290 bar and we ended at about 115 bar.

The barrel was clean when we started the test so the first group settled the barrel.

The target was placed at around 20 m and its purpose was just to check the grouping when fired from a jig.
Pellets used was JSB 15,89gr selected.

This was the end pressure

The Jig that really holds the rifle in place!!!

Nice gun both. May I have one question? Why cricket cal.25 has not longer forend like edgun .25?
Stock is the same as .22 classic but cal.25 has longer air cylinder and short forend on stock is little bit funny πŸ™„ Am I right?

great looking shot strings lad πŸ˜‰

THE 25 cal looks to have the flatest string tho…
happy days for you πŸ˜‰ post up your groups soon as dude.

Great looking strings. Can’t wait to see how they shoot Sparky. More photos please!

Cheers, dam

Sparky, I use PRISM software to construct the graph.
Here is the combined shot string for .22 and .25. .22 seems to have less spread between shots, this is very impressive, with 60 solid shots.
In .22 string, I deleted last 6 shots for mean velocity/energy and spread calculation. Unfortunately, there is no pressure data, otherwise we will know the air consumption of these rifles.
I will combine this string with other Cricket .22 string from Sherrod to see if they are consistent. Will post this later tonight.

Thank you for that – enjoy them

just edited top message for sound comparison ,sorry forgot you

What’s the sound level comparison of the 22 vs the 25?

thanks for the graph endo. how did you do that? what kind of program is that? xbangu i only seen your post today next time i go out ill do another string, i ran out of light on the 25cal ill run it all the way down,Freespool its pretty quiet a little bit louder than daystate airwolf mct not much more. i dont have something to measure sound, but not much louder than the 22 cal cricket hits alot harder though.
