Q:

.22 Lelya Shot Strings

When I got my Lelya the regulator wasn’t working and it was shooting from 720-860fps in a bell curve. I determined that one of the o-rings in the regulator must be bad so I pulled the regulator apart yesterday and replaced the orings. I didn’t find any bad o-rings, but I replaced them anyways while it was apart. After reassembling the gun I shot these two shot strings using JSB 18.1s:

The regulator now seems to be working, but compared to what I have read from RIDETOEAT and sniperlabyo, I should be getting better efficiency and more shots per fill. When I get some free time I am going to try lower the HST and then slowly bring it back up to see if the HST is set too high. Has anyone else done a shot string with their new Lelya yet? If so, what kind of FPS and shot count are you getting?

Here is my basement chrono setup.

Sounds good!

its just number of shots divided by ammount of air used.

Number of Shots/(Starting BAR – Ending BAR)

sweet. looks good. everything check out ok?

Yes the lars-atx modified spreadsheet worked great! Thanks again! What is the measurement for the “AVG Air/Shot”?

Today I did some shot strings comparing the JSB 18.13gr vs JSB 15.89gr pellets. I will have to do some shooting to see which pellet is more accurate in this gun.

JSB 18.13gr

JSB 15.89gr

Working on it. Got the formulas figured out, just trying to figure out best way to collect and display the data. also how to keep bar/psi cc/cuin stuff straight…

Sweet! Please post a copy of it once you are done.

Ah, I can see the images now. I remember that spreadsheet app. I modified it to add scaling, i’ll have to find it and see if I can upload/share it.

Is the effieciency calculator part of that script now, or a seperate app?

The efficiency calculator is separate, you can find it here. Although it would be sweet if the spreadsheet could calculate that info.

Anyone else having issues seeing the RomeoAlfa images?

I rehosted the images using a different image host, so they should show up for everyone now.

I finally got some free time to play around and adjust the HST on my Lelya. I found that the HST was set just a tad high from the factory by about half to one turn. I ran the math through the efficiency calculator and it is 10% more efficient now. It looks like I am getting around 25 usable shots like Ed originally advertised.

Ed originally said this:

Price at dealers. The length of Lelya is the same for all calibers. I will make video later, when they will be ready, we make some changes in the metal parts. The shout count for .177 with JSB heavy .177 speed up to 240 m/sec about 30-35, in .22 with JSB heavy .22 speed up to 240 m/sec about 25, in .25 with JSB King 6.35 up to 220 m/sec I estimate about 20. The length is about 22 inches, but I have some ideas to make it shorter with the same length of the barrel.

RIDETOEAT – Did you order another .22? If so, let me know what kind of shot count you get with your new gun and how it compares to your old gun.

Mine shoots the 18’s very well and gets over 20+ shots but I have not checked it for a long time. I think it was tuned around 850 according to the very credible previous owner, I have not chrony’d it. Should have both of my new ones tomorrow.

quote muggs4u:

Actually I get one ragged hole groups @ 30 yards with the 16 grainers. I read an old post and found that they are the ones that Ed himself suggest to use with the .22 cal. Leyla. Yes you can shoot the 18 grainers but you would have to turn the gun up and you’re shot count will suffer. I personally prefer a higher shot count. Considering 790-800 fps. Hoping to get 25 plus shots. Thinking this should be enough energy up to 70 yards for most small game.
On another note, at the moment I don’t have a lot of time on my hands so I’m thinking of sending the Lelya out to Ernest so that he could work his magic (trigger work, barrel polishing, maximum efficiency, etc.). I just don’t have the time to work on my guns the way I used to 🙁

Thanks for the info. I know Ed usually designs his guns to shoot a specific pellet and I had not seen him say which one to use for this gun. I will pick up some of the 15.89s and try them out. Many people with the older Lelyas were getting 30 shots with the 22 cal so I don’t see why these shouldn’t be able to unless the size of the reservoir is now smaller or the barrel length was shortened.
