Q:

.22 or .25 Mutant?

I’ve spent a lot of time this year flip flopping on what I want for my first bullpup. I had it narrowed down to a .25 Vulcan and then the other night I fired my .25 Marauder. While I like power, the sound made me reconsider a .25 in anything since I do mostly night pest control. Also due to circumstances it looks like I’ll have to cut into the funds I had reserved for a bullpup to get some new truck tires. That puts me smack dab back in the price range for a Mutant later in November if I get lucky.

Currently the things I’m taking down at night are raccoons at about 40yds, and during the day I limit myself to squirrels up to 50 to 60yds. Practice wise I shoot spinners 40yds at night. So, do I opt for the .25 and hope its quiet enough or get the .22?

That being said is there any advice folks have for handling the Mutant, and what I should realistically expect out of it once I’ve practiced enough?

:hoot:

The gun will outshoot you every time! It will hit what you aim at, providing you can hold steady and account for pellet drop and windage.

You will never be able to shoot to the gun’s full potential, unless you mount it in a gun vice!

Get a decent scope and enjoy the gun.

I like shooting spinner targets also, it’s a lot of fun. :biggrinn:
I have not had the time, 4 that in a while.

Last time I was hitting the quart size, spinner @ 75 yards with my shorty. :4:

I’d rather see a well thought out air gun than a rushed product to the market.

It’s going to be fun dialing everything in once the Mutant arrives. Personally I’m hoping I can move some of my practice spinners out past the usual 60yds so I can get some longer range experience. Give me a synthetic stock , Black please.

+1 Less chance of changes due to temperature. And if the wood is already ugly, I prefer just synthetic.

There taking there time with the Mutant 25 , I think they are going to get it right with this little gun and all the others will be a catch up mode.
Spend the time and money on accuracy , My 22 Mutant is so pretty when I down a sparrow at 48 yards, I can hear the sparrow say dam that was a pretty gun, I hope they keep the price down, the accuracy up, The weight down, The size little, Looks, I do not care, spend an extra 300 bucks and buy you a gun safe queen stock, But do not tack the 300 on my gun, Give me a synthetic stock , Black please.
My :2cents:

My std has a much better looking stock than my shorty.

Will wait for the .25 Mutant Shortie . Already have a new stock in mind for it and have ordered material needed to make it .

Its been decided. I pulled the trigger and went for the .22 Mutant Std. Now I get to find a scope to throw on it.

Alea iacta est! Congrats! I have the standard as well. Made the right choice. Quality, efficiency, and accuracy in the top ranks.

If they move the cocking to the middle and maybe even do a biathlon type lever I’ll buy a .25 too.

That would settle it for a lot of us. Put all other bullpups out of my mind.

If the dog hadn’t stopped to take a shit, he might have caught the rabbit. Why would they over complicate a successful air rifle doing all that crap. It doesn’t seem to be working out that well for FX and would surly drive up the cost of the rifle.

Why would Mr Ford want to improve on the “Model T” when it was the fastest vehicle of it’s kind in 1909? I am sure the (without doubt) outstanding manufacturer of the Mutant is able to multi-task more than one thing. Some dogs can take a shit, smoke a cigar, hump a bitch, and catch a rabbit all at the same time…
