Beluga!!!! I can still hear the song. I liked the critter shooting vids and the music during shooting the shotgun shells. Beethoven not so much. :whoop:

My interest in Ted’s Youtube site began to wane after the first 25 or so videos. One person can only say so much that remains interesting. The forum here provides a variety of input.

Ted’s opinion is Ted’s opinion, and it does not necessarily reflect information that fulfills all shooter’s needs, wants or desires. It’s a great source of information for the beginner, but after a while a body has pretty much seen and heard all he needs to see and hear from one source.

He’s a nice enough fellow. But he lost my following when he left the forum and struck out on his own. He ceased to be a group member, and became a one man expert. Pcp’s are a one trick pony, a limited subject. It’s only the constant stream of findings from the large number of experts on the forums that enriches all of us with fixes, mods, tricks, repairs, and new items on the world’s market. As smart as he is, he can’t know as much as all the forum members all over the world who pop in here and give us their views and advice.

Dman is an excellent example. When I first heard the word “Mutant”…I thought his girlfriend had delivered their firstborn. Low and behold, he reveals a 22” bullpup. You just never know what will pop up on this place.

Just my biased opinion…your millage may vary.

Oh yes, Ted.. The messiah lol
If Ted says length matters, it’s gospel.
Never mind common sense.

Of course these couple of inches matters. Even Ted admits that in his video on Matador .25 long and he would like to chop some length off.

I may be the oddball here but I’d take the short. Those couple extra inches really do matter And I absolutely notice them.
I have a .25 Cricket and it’s 33″- I think the length is horrible for a bullpup. I hunt.. Shoot from the vehicle window ALOT, and losing even 3″ would be awesome, let alone chopping off 6″! I know you lose a lot considering, but hey these PCPs are pretty advanced. If you get 70 shots from a long, and say 40 from a short.. Isn’t 40 enough for any application? Unless your literally going to permissions and shooting 100+ ground squirrels a day pretty regularly.. Which 99% of us are not. You always handle the gun, so length is always a concern.. You probably very rarely will need over 40 shots. Think about it. On paper long is good- in reality short is better. That’s for my uses and opinion.
I would love to have a Cricket compact in .25 like Ernest. Ill probably end up selling mine before spending any more money to convert it though. If your hiking around with your gun a lot, or vehicle shooting, you’ll become a size and weight nazi too.

congrats on the new Eddie, even though we are now in the mist of bullpup-mania the Eddie is still the best. Custom barrels, hand built and checked personally by Ed. I absolutely love mine. Please post results when you get her.

I change the mine .22 long for one long .25..I think set the speed about 890 with JSB´s King. the Edgun it´s one big rifle in all calibers !!!great for long shots !!
waiting delivery for do tests!! :biggrinn:

Boy…I just don’t know if I can wrap my head around the idea of the short version. Something aesthetically wrong when the sunshade projects forward of the muzzle. It’s kind of like a midget porn star named Timmy Tripod…kinda hard to look at, but gets the job done. Pardon my politically incorrectivity (did I just invent a word?) I meant to say, “a not so little, little person”. Here’s how I have it planned, the long more suits my current needs and the short will be my next gun, for more covert ops. Just waiting for the price to come down to under $1,000 US…hey, why not? After all, it’s only half a gun. 😉

Yes – i have the .25 and .30 standards. My shots are limited to under 75 yards being surrounded by heavy woods. My .25 edges out the .30 a sliver on accuracy but not enough to make a difference hunting small birds out to 75 yards (maybe 1/4″ larger in 5 shot groups). With careful pellet sorting and cleaning the .30 barrel more frequently I can get them about the same.

The .30 is a good bit quieter than the .25. The large muffler on the .30 has a more subdued thunk sound. Pellet impact noise or ricochets is much more of an issue on noise for the .30. Mine is tuned to 875 fps for right at 75 fpe and I have not broken a valve stem in over 2000 shots but that may be because it is moderately tuned. The .25 is set at 915 fps for 47 fpe. I tend to use Predators in the .25 for game but the impact difference on opossums and raccoons is significant in terms of the wallop noise. 30 cal and 75 fpe hits a 10-15 lb critter pretty hard. Even heart/lung shots are always fatal. I am near 50 raccoons and a few opossums with the 30. I have shot a few dozen raccoons with the .25 and no opossums. Both are enough power for that class of critters. Anything bigger like a coyote and I would do a head shot. For birds either is devastating. The .25 Predators make a loud pop like a lady finger going off on impact on a bird.

Basically, I tend to grab the .30 just for the reduced noise mainly and often the shots are at night.

SC, do you have a .25? If so how does it compare to the Edgun .30? I know the .30 BC is better but how is the .30 at longer ranges (past 100 yards) I have a lot of Raccoons and other large critters. I have read that it is pretty quiet too.

Sorry guys – the smaller the better and my Baby Cricket in .177 is my favorite and most used gun at 19 fpe. This is all backyard/front yard shooting (2+ acres but with many acres of common ground woods and a creek in my back corner – with no houses in front or behind me except way up hills and far) shooting. Birds, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, snakes, moles, and even an occasional vole are the targets. Sometimes, I use my .22 P-Rod at 14 fpe depending on proximity of shot (Well over 60 squirrels with the P-Rod alone). I only bring out the bigger guns mainly for opossums, raccoon’s, and ground hogs. Most shots are well under 75 yards with the heavy woods. Although I can get away with shooting up to a 22 LR occasionally I prefer the neighbors not to even know I am out. The game hangs around a lot more too with so much less impact noise. It’s like using micro-fishing gear. The accuracy and power is more than sufficient. I always use a bench rest of some sort and precision is paramount. 😉 When I go to one of several local farms things are a bit different.

Here are several a good rules of thumb that I follow.
.22 – back yard
.25 – farm yard
long – mostly target
standard – mostly hunting

I hope this helps…

The .25 long is not too big for your car. If you have a large pick-up you can lay the gun on the seat and then stick the gun out the window when needed. The .25 standard is perfect for the average car. It’s really easy to manipulate and the magazine cut off switch allows the shooter to make the gun totally safe if you load the gun and not take a shot. If shooting out of your car is the goal get the standard. All Matadors seem louder to the shooter because of where you place your head on the gun. Most of the noise you hear is from the hammer, the hammer noise does not travel far so to the bystander the gun is pretty quiet.

quote keyser soze:

As for quiet, I have a Donny shroud for the Edgun standard .25 on the way, I will report my findings and make a video on it this week or next.

Keyser if the LDC is not quiet please do not give a video review  As for the quietness of these guns, they are not that bad really. They do have a crack to it but easy to tame. The loudest noise you’ll hear is the hammer slap. Not much you can do about it unless you tune it to around 800 fps but that would be crazy to do if you had 88 acres to shoot lol. When it comes to what size you should get, that’s really a personal choice and everyone will have different opinions based on their needs. A 6 foot guy will most likely like the long version whereas a short guy like me (5’8) prefers the Standard. Make a pros and cons list to fit your needs and weigh out the options.

quote Hoot:

My Edgun Long was very quiet. Very light. Got the .25 because I wanted power, silence, distance, and a large shot count. I got it all.

The long has a bigger shroud…quieter. No additional moderator needed! It has a longer air cylinder…more shots. It has a longer barrel…more velocity/power.

Unless you need a short gun, there’s only a few inches difference. The long give you more of everything. Hoot:
