.25 50 fpe Crapid replacement which bullpup do i choose
its been a while….but man so many bullpups to choose between im confused….i want something to replace my (c)Rapid .25 50 fpe rifle.
i would like something simelar in performance and quality

has to be very quiet ! ok with loosing a bit of power in favor of silence

My .25 Veteran Short, with a DonnyFL Sumo, is super QUIET!!! I’m talking hammer slap. Now, I have not tried to max out the Shorty because I don’t need that much power for my backyard. Anything in the 40 fpe is fine with me.
I no longer look for a “better” pcp, because I found one that has no discernible flaws, is way beyond my ability with accuracy, is deadly quiet, and is as reliable as any upper end ,25 pcp on the market. What more does a body want??? This gun is a hands down keeper.

Went with the genuine Panasonic 3,100 18650’s x 8pcs. Lovin’ it. One day perhaps my Streamlight TLR1-HL will offer 4k lumen in that tiny form factor.
hehe 4K lumens, i got an electro lumens firesword V, made 3000 originally, but he had an upgrade program where he soldered XML’s in there…so now its true 4K as well
cree makes a single small led just little bigger then the xml and the 600 your using…and it makes 2500 lumen….i gotta talk to electrolumens to see if he can mount 4 of those ….that way i can skip the tanning salon….bwaaaahahaha like i give a fuck about having a tan
but theres one rule thats current still…..1K lumen usually draws around 1A to 1.2A…..so when you see chinese flashlight with 12 xml advertising 12000 lumen….but only have a 3A driver board….well then you know its BS …had it been 10-15A then yeah maybe …just maybe it would make crazy amount of lumens
LED lights have evolved faster than the PC. Not long ago 600 lumens was top of the line. You’ve got 1,000 at your disposal. Next year it will be 2k. I have a nice Fenix (no, no FX) search light with a true 4,000 lumens that just blows my mind when I walk the little chihuahua down the street at night. I can light up my entire block like nobody’s business. Now even that is outdated. But yeah, I’d love to see someone mess with me and my puny chihuahua at night and I’ll light ’em up with 4,000 lumen strobe and at that point both me and my chi can have our way with the would be robber! :8:
hehe got a true cree xml 1000 lumen on the glock…switch to one side and it strobes…to the other solid light

I know, I know, Castle law. They’ve gotta enter first. Well, they don’t “feel” the Glock but they will meet it after being blinded by the Streamlight 600 lumens.
pulled the trigger on a vulcan + side lever and a sumo….Talon Tunes gave me an excellent deal….now the wait…

its been so long since i have looked at ballistics etc….installed chairgun (another first in like 8 years)…and i gotta admit my power requirement is probably not as important as i thought i would be.
at a 100 theres still 20 fpe in a 43 fpe vulcan more than enough for squirrels etc….
did a little math…all rifles set to optimal zero range…..rapid 65fpe (kodiak) and a 55fpe (jsb 25gr) if scope was mounted identically then the trajectory of the two is nearly identical…on the graph the pups have the scope at 2″ and rapid at 1.85 which makes for a slight change…of about 1/4″…im gonna call poi the same on those two…the vulcan drops 16″ vs 12″ …who cares….
vulcan at 50y have about 30 fpe, enough for racoons etc….and with less power comes less noise…hmmm….or wait a 2 months on a new shipment of veterans….
the math have spoken…now i see some regulator issues on the vulcan, and someone posted a video of someone speaking arabic? throwing his rifle to the floor…what gives….was it early issues….
Not sure what your intent is for the gun as intents sometimes evolve, but with the Taipan Veteran .25 you can choose between the standard and the short. You say you want a compact bullpup and folks seem pretty elated with their shortys. I love my standard but find myself wishing for something shorter now. Reserve my standard for longer range duty. On a daily basis I would have been better off with the .25 shorty but I don’t think I’d want to push it too much out past 150 yards…which I only had the opportunity to do a few times with my standard.
I’m sure I would have been extremely pleased with a Vulcan as well….with the upgraded side-cocking lever. I really would have enjoyed that lever. But as far as I know Vulcans don’t offer a “short” version, but they do have their longer Vulcan Tactic. The bullpup would be my choice though. I just like the fact that Taipans offer shorter versions, and believe Crickets do as well.
true but its one of the longest which is what bugs me if im going bullpup it might as well get the shorter rifle
hmmm messed around with chairgun, maybe im putting too much emphasis on power…..its been so long since i have thought about power, BC, drop etc….20 fpe is lethal…and both veteran and vulcan has that at 100y….fuck i didnt realize that my crapid had slowly moved from sub 50 fpe to a full 65 (980fps kodiak)…i have just shot it once in a while…but havent bothered to chrony it in years…it just worked…and got louder…imho 50 fpe is the sweet spot for .25
fuck it…im looking for a go to gun …might as well be patient and get the short and easy to adjust veteran, vs a vulcan thats kinda maxed out without major tuning…..i need patience
Keep in mind the Cricket has on-board mag storage, unless you get a skeletonized Cricket stock, where as the Taipan does not. :whistle:
Never did shot strings. With a low power tune, 25.39 JSB’s at a low (but accurate) 825fps I was getting like 50 shots before it fell off the regulator. Bumped the power up and I’d guess 35-40 shots. Since I’ve gone back to shooting birds at 115, I tuned it back down to 825fps to get my shot count back up.
It’s easy to change the power with DonnyFl’s HST adjuster. Even the factory is easy if you have the pins handy or some snap ring pliers or thin needle nose pliers. But then you gotta break out the ole Chrony. I could try to mark the adjuster to see what kind of repeatability it offers but haven’t done so yet. Considering one of those Combro 625 chronograph units for quicker and more portable tuning.
you know i was thinking the same thing, having the cocking knob midship would be optimal….
vulcan is too low on power….43fpe with jsb kings (880-890fps)..had it been 47-48 fpe it would be fine….i usually end up shooting heavy stuff so i want that extra bit of power….stock vulcan is 820-830fps with kings heavy (my rapid shoot jsb 25 grain at 1020 which is too fast for that pellet, kodiaks at 970fps….its too hot for jsb, but kodiaks stack nicely at 45y)
priest, is unknown to me, and while i like my “space” guns…this one looks a little too much a plumming project
FX is out, will not deal with anything AOA touches
Cricket has the power, but is 5-6″ longer than veteran/vulcan, once LDC is added its only 8″ shorter than my rapid
veteran has the power, its short….with added LDC its same lenght as cricket w.o. ldc….but not in stock until january
i like the looks of the vulcan the best, but im not looking for a project gun to tune and tweak….im looking for a gun that just works, and have the power…im not looking for 60fpe…just a solid 50
Are you quite sure you want a bullpup with cocking handle right at your armpit? You can get front cocking ones nowadays like Vulcan, Priest and FX pups, I’ve had both and I wouldn’t buy a rear cocking one anymore.
