25 cal groups
Seems there is not a lot of talk about the Cricket 25 groups. If there are any out there who own both share 70 yard groups between the two calibers

Was a cool very windy day so figured it is a good day to start working on polishing 25 cricket barrel.
First of all it was a workout to say the least. I was tired after finishing with jb cleaning compound. I pulled .270 brush through about 25 times and I though barrel was clean with just the patches. After about 10 pulls it was black as coal. I cleaned it with hobes and went about it again. I went to lunch after that. After a good break I went at it with polishing paste. But brush was too big to go back and forth at the start so I had to do a couple pull through to mat it down. After a while I was able to get a nice but difficult back and forth motion going between the breech and choke. After working that 30 or so times she was shiny but will come back and do a mirror finish on it as brush is just too tight.
It was crazy windy today but I still went out to see how it would do. I was able to do a ragged hole shooting from truck at 38 yards with 2 shots. The third shot went into same hole. It is very impressive for the wind we had. So at this point it looks like she shoots real good.

It´s not true. The EG barrels have the same finish as any LW (German made) airgun Match Barrel.
Take a new, unused EG and after the usual clean up before shot the first time you bore scope it. Now do a proper polish and bore scope it again. After the polish done by the owner it looks like a totally different barrel = “factory polished EG barrels ” is just BS.
I agree with you, Eduard cannot polish all the barrels, it takes all his times that he needs to assemble guns,,, this is difficult, ,, and don’t know if still he did. .
Ville, eelect has posted two types of JB bores, I don’t have the 2nb one, ,, can I polish it without the 2nd one or not?
The JB Bore Paste isn´t really for polishing barrels eventhough the container kinda says so. It´s more of an cleaning agent. To do a “real polish” you need something more abrasive (but not too abrasive) like iex Autosol or the stuff Jan used. Essentially same goo …
When i do it i start with the Autosol and give the barrel a fast workout with 10-15 strokes with the Autosol. Then i put several oiled (Ballistol) patches thru the barrel untill i get rid of the Autosol. Then i take JB Paste and do the same thing except that i do 20-30 strokes before i “flush” with Patches drained in Ballistol followed with dry, clean Patches untill they come out clean. Then i repeat the second step. After that i use the JB “Nr 2” and do 20-30 strokes with it. After that , again a couple of Patches drained in Ballistol and then i finish the job with dry patches untill they come out clean. Then i oil the barrel lightly (since hopefully it´s now just bare metal and it needs a thin coat of oil to fight corrosion if left unused for any period of time) and i´m done. Don´t forget to remove the oil before the next shooting though.
I use VFG felts for the polishing job. A marvellous product !
I do it according Ville advice. I used our product Silichrom. I have essentially less flyer than before. I think is good to do it. It’s certainly not worse 😆
My Brother Jan,
Even I don’t know still, I don’t know what is the difference between polished and unpolished barrels? ? Not in terms of accuracy, ,, I have looked at my edgun barrel several times, , but i cannot figure out if the barrel is already polished or not? ???
I just thought that Eduard is really quite busy and he cannot polish a tons of barrels, ,,,
I believe an experienced man can figure out this….
I never check EG barrel. I have only read information about polishing his barrel. Now we know is not true 😉

Yes, Ville,

Yeah, right …
Take a new EG barrel and clean it up like everyone should before firing any Gun the first time. Check the EG bore with a bore scope. Then after the initial clean-up do the Autosol (or whatever fine paste you use for that) and do a polish. Check the bore again with a BS. Now tell me the EG bores are “polished at the factory”.
LW doesn´t polish the barrels for Ed (e-mail them and ask) and i don´t think Ed sits in his Mansion polishing barrel blanks in his spare time … 😆
I meant polishing my edgun and Mrod barrels, ,,,
Ok, if the barrel is already polished, then it doesn’t need to polish it again? Or any polished and unpolished barrels need barrel polishing often?
I have the JB Bore but I don’t have the 2nb one that eelect has shown in the 2nb pic
If by “already polished” you mean the EG barrel being “polished” at the factory then you do need a one proper polishing on it. It is NOT polished at the factory. After that´s done then you´re good and the only thing needed is an occasional JB treatment by every 10.000 Pellets or so.
I agree. I only do it once. Then it’s cleaning patches after that

I personally don’t think it does, once is enough.

I could see a difference in my 22 cricket. It helps no doubt. I don’t have old targets to compare. That would be another thing to keep organized and I’m swamped as it is. Matter Of fact it has improved all my barrels.

octavius, did you keep your old target to compare? That would tell you for sure…..
