.25 Caliber Surefire Slugs
So with the extreme valve I already have and the .25 24″ LW Condor barrel I am getting I want the most accurate power available in the .25 caliber for calling in coyotes. Which Surefire slugs will give me the best accuracy (and i could have shots out to 100 yards but 50-60 is common)?

As to the question, no, I don’t think we’ve ever had an unhappy customer. We’ve had customers that didn’t get the results they hoped for but none that ever came back and said they felt cheated or misled. The guys with the less than great results have always been the ones trying an application I told them was unlikely to work or right on the edge where I didn’t know (and couldn’t predict) if it would work.
Yeah, too bad about the .22s. There’s a great custom mold just sitting there! I expect the .22s will work in a stout gun with an un-choked barrel but how many of those are out there?
Well I had no idea initially such talent was responsible for these slugs with plenty of expertise behind them. Now if that doesn’t set the expectations. 🙂
I am really looking for good hunting slugs for vermin up to 50 lbs or less. It might be the .25 cal are for the under 30 lbs and the 308s for the larger critters. I like 20+ shots with the high powered valve on the .25 cal. The new valve for the .308 and 9mm only does about 5 shots with 490cc of air.
I am an old competitive BR shooter who spent a lot of his time recently chasing PDogs (Sod Poodles) and Song Dogs with a 22-250 and 243. Lately, PCPs have replaced much of that time and I do so much of it in my own backyard.
The PCP market seems to be exploding. What a great business.

I finally got my .25 barrel out for some testing, it’s pretty accurate with the ‘Cuddas I was slinging, but at distance (50+ yards) they weren’t even close to heavy enough (they are only 30 grains) to stay as accurate as your slugs!!!
Surefire is a product I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend highly. You’d have to have a major case of the shakes or broken (or poorly maintained) equipment to get less than satisfactory results! 😉
It’s too bad the 22’s didn’t work out, you would have put the pellet world on it’s head (again). 😀
Now if they would only let me shoot FT with your slugs i’d be the champ!!! 😆

Yeah, I sell the slugs and I remember the reports so I can provide decent advice. But, Gary designed the slugs and my kid does the actual work of casting, cleaning, sorting, sizing, weighing, and packaging to get them to the (hopefully) happy customer.

No. We were not satisfied with the .22 in choked barrels and decided against selling them.
BTW, the proper name is “Barnes .25 by Surefire.”
I don’t mind these slugs being called “Jerry’s slugs” but every now and then I need to do the right thing and remind folks that Gary Barnes designed these slugs and cut several casting molds (throughout the test period) so my son could cast and sell them to those of you wanting heavy bullets. Gary didn’t get anything out of the deal except keeping my kids busy between orders for custom bigbore slugs. The amount of design and testing (and machining) to bring these slugs to market was not trivial. So, if you are shooting 6.7. or 9 ring slugs, you’re shooting a Gary Barnes designed product. A slug designed to work in someone else’s barrel….

No accuracy testing yet but with my 18″ .25 barrel I am seeing about 855 avg fps over the chrony for 101 fpe with the extreme valve on a 3000 psi fill. I would have been happy with 95 with the 18″ barrel. Very nice.
