Q:

25 Condor and Dyotat valve

Filled to 3100 psi and shot a 74 gr, at 945, next I tried a 76 gr and to my surprize, I could not get the whole slug in almost, but a few thousands sticking out, I had to use my knife to ram half the slug in, too tight in my opinion, the 74’s are sweet though just run them in straight. The 76gr shot about 37 fps. slower then the 74’s heres some numbers…
1 74gr 945
2 76 904
3 74 918
4 76 879
5 74 900
6 74 879.4
7 76 841.3
8,9,10 shot at my target 35 yards, shot the 74’s, may shoot good, windy today and 2 shots within a 1/4 in. more testing hopefully tomarrow, shot 11, or 12, sorry last track, was a 74 gr and it was 828, ending pressure 2800.
Shot 7 EJ’s at this pressure
1 1087
2 1073
3 1069
4 1062
5 1057
6 1053
7 1043
one more comment, have not put the spring in Dyotat has provided as of yet, oh and I did shoot one 76, it went further left then the 74

Excuse me for asking a question sir!

I’m a real butcher with springs?……WHAT THE FUCK or shall I say WERE THE FUCK DID THAT COME FROM? And I don’t work on peoples guns anyways, so WHY would I touch someones SPRING in their guns? Every spring in all MY guns seem to work just fine and the accuracy post and videos prove just that.

I’m lost here………..

What did that have to do with anything? I wasn’t being mean or mad towards you……………………………….I just made a statement about your sentences running together and how confused I got trying to read them. How am I supposed to know your computer is shot. If it is……STOP USING IT TILL ITS FIXED!

Well, when your computer is broke and you have to take at least 10 minutes to post, I don’t really care much to be doing this!! The low shot must have been a small slug. So 3 good shots at 3450psi. and then a drop slightly left and lower. Don’t have a shot count on that area yet. We had a thunderstorm. As far as choke or no choke, it does not matter at this point in the game. Springs… air guns all have them, but don’t let Tofaz touch em, he is a real butcher in that department. I may bore me out a leed though, cause the 3 band bullet should shoot better period…. Dyotat makes a fine valve, and I am very glad I have one!! When you look at the EJ’s you can tell how the gun is shooting. The valve is not for this gun anyway, it is going to be for my Talon SS, after I cut the choke out and crown the barrel. I am quite happy with my 24 in. Condor without the valve. I’m going short boys Dyotat SS, everyone has there preferences. I have never shot anything past 75 yards, so I really don’t care to shoot further. OK someday maybe 100. So far I think I am using 60 psi per shot. I am sure Dyotat knows what the numbers should be, and right now with the spring I have in the gun, I have no curve, and not enough air to get one.

So is your barrel choked? I thought i just read that somewhere up above. Why a choked barrel for slugs? What power setting are you using? Mixing bullets during a shot string is gonna give you erratic numbers.

MAW, without commas and periods, i’m having a hard time reading what your are saying. Your sentences are just running together…………… Just trying to help

Make sure your not over preloading the hammer spring. You want just enough to open the valve all the way.

What the hell shot a couple of Jerry’s slugs, 68.8, 1st shot went in the same hole the 4th left above and the 2nd was a little lower and to the right 1/2 in.

I shot 4 shots at 50 yards, the 1st 2 were touching about 4 inches directly above 1 in. target, the 3rd shot went low directly above target 1/4 inch, the 4th went 2 inches above that and to the left 1/2 inch. I could tell the difference in the blasts and noise, so I think my hammer may have a problem with chatter, the 4th shot I don’t know maybe I had some canting going on, I’m sure more will be revealed as time goes on, if weather permits try some 7 rings to compare tomarrow. I don’t believe a bullet would shoot 2 good shots, almost same hole and be a 4 inch group shooter.

Maw,

Don’t shoot vertical inside your house when chronying and you won’t be shooting your roofing tiles. 😛

If we did that in the Pacific NW we would drown inside of three hours.

Seriously I assume your sizing them down to what size? I had a .255 Lee sizing die to size the 257420 for my LW .255 barrel, mine barrel was 17 inches and I was getting 820 FPS but with Doug’s intermediate valve, meaning it was the stock AF valve body bored out by Doug for his valve stem. The 257420 sized down gave great accuracy, but was way to far to size that bullet according to common practice.

I filled the tank to 3500, but fell short alittle, cause my tank is lower then I thought, so 3450, and shot a 74.5 = 964.1 fps. very powerful… shot thru at least an inch of red roofing tile.

I have a real problem with my computer, it is so slow it takes 10 minutes to get here and make a comment, it sucks big time and is very frustrating, when 2 days ago it was working good. anyhoo the barrel is a 24 lw, and I may have had 3200psi on that 1st shot but the tank was hot and I was trying to compensate for cooling, 147 fp damn thats rocking, I want to try 3500psi just to see if I can still open the valve, plus would like to shoot a 50 yrd group, with the 74’s
, right now as slow as my computer is its not a good time to be doing any of this, but can do pictures when it is fixed.

74.5 gr at 945 fps is 147.8 fpe. Second shot was 76.5 gr at 904 fps for 138.8 fpe.

I think it’s a 24″ choked LW.

That’s almost 135 FPE !!! What length barrel are you using ?

The slugs are 74.5 gr a d 76.5 gr. The reason they are so tight is your barrel is set up for pellets and the leed in is not big enough. The 74.5 gr push in easier because they have only 2 drive bands.

So the 74.5 gr shoot good?

I have not shot them out of my .25 with a choke. I did shoot some out of a .25 TJ barrel with no choke and they seem to do pretty good. The 76.5 gr shoot good in my .257 and the .25 TJ barrel.

100 gr hammer and air-archer spring and regular tank.

Are you using a stock size tank and standard hammer ?
