.25 I’m only getting 43 fpe…..
….for 20 shots before it falls off. But I’m new at this so I’m probably doing something wrong.
The rifle is a Stubby Hi-Flo.
12″ – .25 caliber barrel.
Pellet JSB King 25.4.
I’m filling to 3000 psi.
I’ve backed off the powerwheel to 5-10.
At this setting I”m getting an actual curve instead of just a linear drop off.
860 up to 875 then back down to 860. I’m pleased with the curve but would like to see it up around 900.
The rifle was getting 34 fpe for 30 shot in .22 with the powerwheel set at 2-10.
Is this just the “spot” for this hammer weight, valve, pellet combination?

I have a stock TalonSS with 25 cal 12″ barrel, stock hi-flow tank with the added stock hammer weight. My tophat (never adjusted) is something just over 0.100″ (can’t remember) anyway it’s maxed out to the breech when closed (no play). With a 3000 fill I get the same as you. I begin with about 890 fps and end with about 870 fps or so. Most avg’s are 875-889 fps for 20 shots. I don’t really keep up with the ending tank pressure but it’s around 2500 psi. Hope this helps.

Well spoken and timely. I just went back over to R&L’s website to look at his “Extreme valve” numbers. I’m running just under that with the Hi-Flo at between 40 and 42 fpe. I must’ve misunderstood.

sounds like youre making efficient use of your air as is, i wouldnt mess with it unless youre prepared for a little trial and error bringing power up and maintaining efficiency…
2 things to try, one at a time
Increase hammer weight.
The little 20gram spacer in pic, with spacer in hand, go to your local hardware store ACE Hardware stores have what they call brass bushings.
Find one or 2 that are a little heavier, they only cost 5-6 bucks each. A 35 gram one would be a good starter choice
Port out Valve a little.
Your high-flow, is it a standard condor..or a R&L or one of Tony’s?
If its a standard, perhaps porting out the valve a little would help. Its free to do, and there are tons of instructions on doing it around here
R&L’s and Tony’s come pre-ported, its part of the magic they work.

On hindsight, I think setting your fill pressure to 2300 was not good advice, from your description your getting a good shot curve already, up in that 2700-2800 range. Your already able to open the valve ok, right on that shot curve

I’ve shot and filled and adjusted till I’m blue in the face and it’s running 42 fpe with a powerwheel setting at 4.5 and a 2800 psi fill. 20 real consistent shots down to 2300 psi.
0.080″? Or somewhere really close to that…
(I just put my adjustable hammer in and set it at 85 grams)

I have the high-flow and a stock condor hammer of 65Gram, I can’t begin to open up the valve at 3000psi, but at 2300 I have a nice shot curve and at that 2300 range I can shoot from 900 to 1000fps real easy. by adjusting the power wheel. My power wheel is only at 3 for 900fps, which was my goal.
It’s just that,,an Adjustable Hammer.I can add a different collar to adjust from 65-75-85 up to 95 grams.
It’s actually pretty slick and gives me the option of having it light,heavy or anywhere in the middle.

I can see no need what so ever to have a 120gr hammer to open a valve at 3000psi to send a pellet at 900fps. Not if you could send that same pellet at 900fps when at 2000psi, hell I would love to do it at 200psi. Why slap around and stress everything for the same result?

Not if you could send that same pellet at 900fps when at 2000psi, hell I would love to do it at 200psi. Why slap around and stress everything for the same result?

I have no idea about that either. I guess I could take it back out and weigh it on my powder scale. If anyone knows what Randy and R&L sends out with the Stubby Hi-Flo, I’m sure it’s standerd.

That’s with jsb kings. I don’t count keep up with pressure levels or pellet count…I let my pellet holder on the tank do that. 😆
