Q:

.25 I’m only getting 43 fpe…..

….for 20 shots before it falls off. But I’m new at this so I’m probably doing something wrong.

The rifle is a Stubby Hi-Flo.

12″ – .25 caliber barrel.

Pellet JSB King 25.4.

I’m filling to 3000 psi.

I’ve backed off the powerwheel to 5-10.

At this setting I”m getting an actual curve instead of just a linear drop off.

860 up to 875 then back down to 860. I’m pleased with the curve but would like to see it up around 900.

The rifle was getting 34 fpe for 30 shot in .22 with the powerwheel set at 2-10.

Is this just the “spot” for this hammer weight, valve, pellet combination?

What the heck is an adjustable hammer?
I never heard of it?

libertyman777, whats your hammer weight?
I have the high-flow and a stock condor hammer of 65Gram, I can’t begin to open up the valve at 3000psi, but at 2300 I have a nice shot curve and at that 2300 range I can shoot from 900 to 1000fps real easy. by adjusting the power wheel. My power wheel is only at 3 for 900fps, which was my goal.

Well, just for comparison,my tophat is set @ 0.96 and she’s always like 35.8 grain Eunjins and she tosses them at 998-1007 @ 2800 psi,and has been like that since new.
I’m at 170 FASL here, but even then she’s right behind my Sumatra which throws them at 1022 average 1t 3000 psi.

It’s always miffed me that Barracuda’s actually don’t do as good as the EJ’s.
I was so doubtful about the number’s,so I went and bought a Competition’s Pro Chrono and lighting kit just to learn that my figity Shooting Chrony wasn’t wrong,(But I don’t use it much anymore) as the Pro Chrono is just that much Better!

I just put my adjustable hammer in and set it at 85 grams and tried her with that, then dropped it back to 75 grams with the Best results @ 1023 fps.
I left my power wheel at 8.6 for this shot test,,but I’m only after as much power as I can get without any negative recoil effect shooting affecting off my Bipod.
I think you might have one like mine that likes the bigger gap on the tophat so I thought I’d throw that out there.

Btw,,I’m getting between 18 and 22 shots with real good consistency with what I have right now,,and really as long as she’s got the berries for 15 or 20 shots,,Well I’m pretty Happy.

Man these rifles are so neat!!

The guys on this site can be VERY helpful with settings and diagnosing any issue with your gun but they need information.

You should measure the tophat setting (it could have moved) and you want to be very precise with adjustments and measurements so results can be repeated and test results are accurate and lead to the next change being better than the last.

Whats your tophat set at? try out to.095

I have no idea. I guess I’ll need to get a set of feeler gauges. But I hate to mess with it since it’s set so perfect for .22.

what is your ending fill pressure?

I’m thinking it was 2500 maybe 2600. I’d have to check to be sure but I wasn’t having to fill very much to get back to 3K.
