.257 Condor Breech Explosion
My breech exploded on my new .257 Condor after firing only 3 shots.I filled my carbon fiber tank to 3600psi loaded a 257420 in the chamber when I fired the gun the breech exploded and bent out the corner on my frame. I have one of Doug’s valves in a Talontunes carbon fiber tank with the TJ 32” barrel.Not very happy right now… 👿 Tony.

Posted a thread about this ages ago with pics with egsactly the same damage, everyone seemed to think it was a one off,, these rifles will explode silly delrin breeches, mine was brand new and it blew apart, slug was correctly sized and a nice fit in barrel, simple fact is it might not break first shot but someday it will come apart, aluminium breech and convert to side cocker with cocking handle stretched to hammer, no more stressful cocking no more exploded breeches, I was lucky to only get minor cuts.

Good thing it took some of the force, rather than your face! It does look repairable thankfully. But it will never look quite the same again. Sadly!

The usual; cause of this is the bullet not being pushed all the way into the barrel, especially if the bullet is not sized down enough.
The other cause is usually the bullet being sized “TOO” small and it partially falls out of the barrel. For instance when the muzzle is tilted.
Either of these conditions, act as a barrel obstruction. 8-(
Don’t ask how I know all this. I keep a spare breach at all times. 😉
Glad you were not hurt, as high pressure air at the levels we use in our Big bores, can be very dangerous.
Lucky, all you need is a new breach. A call to AF, will be at no cost,”IF” you simply tell them that your breach cracked. DO NOT tell them that it is modified to .257!!!
The frame is soft, and can most likely be tapped back into shape.
