Q:

.257 Talondor

Hi Gents
I am from the UK and I would like to have a .257 Talondor built but where do I start, Would it be ok to start of with a Gun power (Air force) storm/stealth and built from there ? What would be needed to change from standard .22-12ft/lbs to a .257 talondor,

Would the frame be ok ? What valve ?, Barrel/length ?,

And would I need 4500 psi scuba tank.

Many more questions in-coming.

Many thanks Mark

i think ‘custom’ built is the way to go…

i recently went from a 22 Talon to the 22 Talondor by way of ‘conversion’ with factory provided hi-flo valve and hammer weight.

i’m quite satisfied with the results.

big holes are not as important as where said hole is located in whatever the target, IMO.

i get at least 45 full power shots with very good accuracy out to 65 yards (that’s all i can tell as that’s the limit of my back fence)

performance is what one desires and wants/needs, IMO

No worries
like I said before its finding someone over here to build me one.

I don’t mind one bit what ever you post , I enjoy the banter lol.

Apparently you haven’t seen what a higher velocity .257 flat point or hollow point will do to a target. In a pigeon, no big hole, It just blows the fucker’s in half! LOL!!!

What, if anything can a LOW velocity big bore do that a .22 or .25 in standard, normal every day configeration cannot do? Trying to figure the use for them.

On the other hand, a Higher velocityi, souch as Dyotat builds, can do a hell of a lot that the than the underpowered simple drop in cannot.

As far as A State, requireing .35 or larger, using a underpowered drop in kit might be letgal, by totally inadaquite for medium game.

I am just fishing for any use for the lower velocity, underpowered big bores, other than novelity. No disrespect. But what exactly are they good for other than shits and giggles?

quote Tofazfou:

CAMELORAMA,

Let me clean up what I said. Seems like I do this waay to often on forums cause people don’t really follow my videos and or blog or truly understand what’s being discussed.

Now, I know a lot about drop in kits as I’ve owned an Airforce gun for years now. Many years! Had a ton of friends with them also. Many sold theirs off moons ago.

MY GUN IS CUSTOM SO EVERY PART IS CUSTOM FITTED. SO ON MY GUN OR ANYONE ELSES WHO WANTS UTMOST ACCURACY IN A LONG RANGE SETUP, YOUR NOT GOING TO JUST “DROP IN” A KIT AND IT PROVE HELLA ACCURATE. PERIOD! So “CUSTOM” fitted parts is what I was suggesting really.

Now, can joe blow order a 257 drop in kit? Heck yeeeeeah they can, But don’t expect to hit things far away with consistency. The Airforce guns vary too damn much to drop in a generic kit that probably doesn’t match his frame and fit properly.

I thought the poster wanted a kit like mine is all. A DROP IN WILL NOT DO IF HE WANTS HIS GUN LIKE MINE! But yes, the poster can probably talk to Randy at R and L Airguns if he wants a drop in 257. No probs there

Many thanks for that Tofazfou, my plan wasn’t really for a drop in kit I want a fully custom built .257 rifle , over here in the UK we have to have some thing like this on a fire arms licence (fac) as it most certainly be over 12 ff lbs , it will most probably replace my .22 rim fire.
for my pest control i am just hoping they will allow me to have it for fox shooting as we also have to state what were using it for , plus any sound moderator added has to go on licence with it being (fac).

I have looked at other fully built (fac) air rifles Fx boss, Rapid 7, plus others but they don’t do much for me as the performance and look as the .257 hp bullets and Talondor does, I like Black rifles with a difference.
Not saying i could smack cans at 400+ yds with it but darn-it i would like to try go some good loooooong range crow`s and a decent valley which is 300yds full of wabbits.

If i have to get parts shipped across the pond then so be it, we have Airforce/Gunpower Stealth/Storm models that have NO power wheel, i am wondering if this frame would work, or do i buy a (fac) Gunpower then have it customised.

Tofazfou how many shots do you get from your 52oz bottle using the 77g bulllets ,

Thank you Mark

i have tried with the .22 cooper arms no good at that distance , my only other option is use my .223 tikka 595 but i like to eat what i shoot

.30 cal is not a true big bore, and in the great state of Arizona, you have to use 9mm or above to shoot game here. Hunters we are, so much more fun then pop cans and paper, I do believe if you want a Condor the way it should be made, Dyotat100 is the one who does this. Now as far as does a drop in kit work as good as Dyotat supreme, I highly doubt it, due to the flex factor, Dyotat relieves all these issues n his build. Now on the other hand, the Condor is not going to flex that much with the gun shooting low velocity and low pressure.

Ok it doesn’t make real big bore power.

This is why I build what I build. My .257 at 100 yds today.

I just like airgun that can shoot past 50 yds. I have a .30 pellet and it’s great at 50 yds but it lobs them in at 100 yds. It’s shooting at 890-900 fps also.

Its not a true bigbore kit because you are still using a .25 valve.

Simply not true on the “no drop in kit”…
Eldy has a drop in .357 & .457

5 minute swap bro….
.357 works on a stock Talon SS. & my barrel is 28”
However, I do have the hiflow talon tunes valve & slap now…

Not as yet , that looks cool

Do you have a barrel for your project, for a bit power you need a long barrel 24″ or 60 cm.
If you are going to shoot HEAVY stuff, use a Alu. breech, Delrin can burst.
Take a 7mm or more valve stem, then you can make a big bore tophead.

😛

Nice one I have just ordered a Photon NV the reviews look promising this is going on my Falcon FN19 .22.

Its and old Simmons 6x24x50mm that’s not made anymore. With mildots of course. You can also buy 20 or 30 MOA rings from TIM at MAC1 airguns.

The Hawke Sidewinders look pretty good and the SWFA are really working for me on my long range rigs. If I had the money, I would buy all SWFA scopes. Powder and Air. OK, not all my Airguns but I could use another one for the TD257 and one for my TIKKA T3 in 6.5×55
