.30 Cricket at 89 FPE L@@K shot string
Got excited when the 1st # showed 937fps had to look more then once and shake my head, then look at the crony and see if the lights are on and took another shot 935fps WOW at 35″ bullpub with this much power I want to hunt NOW!!!!
More tuning and this is what I got at this speed: (Have more spring tension to get it higher, just to see 100FPE possible with a full mag?)

Weird. But i´ve heard this before – something about larger pellets + larger contact area = more lead in the rifling. IDK if there´s any truth to that though…
Right but I have only cleaned my R3M .25 barrel once when I first got it and it is still clean after 1500 shots. I am wondering if the 30 caliber is more prone to a dirty barrel with all else equal? Ed was speaking of very few shots.
Earnest is using ST barrel, so won’t get dirty as fast as the LW.
I would say My daystate Airwolf in .22 FAC suffers from dirty barrel at 50 shots too. Spiral sucks!

I find Ed’s comment about the 30 cal pellets making the barrel dirty and less accurate very quickly interesting. Ernest – have you noticed that?
If FX copied the EDGUN stock look like you see others doing … then im willing to bet they would have a sub 30″ bull pup… but someones gotta break out from the crowd and be different. even if some people find it ugly look here

Sounds great except as long as they don’t get too long. Ed is going to have about a very short 31″ 30 cal standard Matador that gets about 20 shots and then a long version that gets about 30 shots. The Bobcat is 37″ with 27 shots and it looks pretty darn long in the photos.
Yes LW barrel and they are stainless steel, there is a debate in keeping them in the raw state and they are ground down not cut to 16MM, they maybe couple inch longer to increases shot count/FPE.

I agree with you and tell folks who are trying to quiet their .25s down even further that the pellet impact noise takes over the noise the airgun makes so at some point they are wasting their time unless they create stealthy backstops and just shoot tissue targets.
A .25 Predator pellet from my Matador sounds like a firecracker going off when it hits a sparrow.
If the Crickets prove to be accurate then the icing on the cake would be custom tuning as they are sold. 😀 I might trade a little less power for a few more shots. Maybe 80 FPE for 25-27 shots or 900 FPS with a JSB 44.75? Am I dreaming again? :6: I’ll wait for the accuracy results. Maybe these huge pellets can handle a lot more velocity and stay stable.
Update: I see you got 30 shots at 80 FPE. Now that is impressive.
40Y This is the furthest I can shoot today, set at 935fps at 89FPE 46.3 gr pellet. at 9X scope. I’m out of pellets, will post 75Y group when pellets in hand. Also by then will have my TargetShooting Model 1000 Rifle Rest then use 20X scope at that range. This Smooth twist barrel like it at this speed. shooting as good as my other Cricket and Edgun at this distance. Click on photo to enlarge.

These are custom made and tuned to your preferred speed/FPE, they originally .25 Cal, with new .30 barrels, Magazine, larger Probe.

Your right of course for real hunting but not for exploding sparrows. 😀 One of those .257 unchoked LW barrels would do the trick. :4: In my neighborhood I need to pellets to slow down at some point and those casts go a long long ways…
What would be great is if they also identified a few very good commercial cast bullets that worked perfectly and cut the leade accordingly for great accuracy out of the box.

And you´re right – it´s ugly. Every one with a modicum of taste can see that. Many owners seem to live in denial though – much like parents for ugly Babies do : “Oh, isn´t he/she cute” eventhough the kid resembles an aged Bulldog. Shoots well though and the FX trigger … :7:
