Q:

.30 Cricket Photos

Just got it in the Mail, over all .30 cal conversion look really good. The magazine machining it top quality, The barrel clamp bushing from 15mm to 16mm also top quality, The pellet probe
has the same quality as the stock, the only machining on the breech is to make clearance for the height of the new .30 magazine. All we need now is a 19″ CF Neil shroud, The 7″ supplied LDC has no internals baffles, so the blast is about 2 times as loud as the .25 cricket. OAL is 35″ as you see on the photos—-> so with a 19″ CF shroud will maintain the 35″ that will make it quieter the BOSS.
I HAVE NO .30 CAL PELLETS, come on Steve send me some, PA has none. To bad wanted to shoot is beast! but shooting air feels like a .25 cal barrel flip. Click on photos to view larger photo.
Next post will be: shot count, speed, accuracy to 50, 75 and 100y. and see the POI at 25y to 75y when sighted in at 50Y to see the precision of the barrel alignments.

Penetration in the skull

Why .22 Manny? I know you have higher caliber in your arsenal. Newbie question

quote Nomadic Pirate:

i dunno about Hogs, more like it be a bodyshot gun for Racoon size critter, a 70 FPE .30 cal would not be my 1st choice for hogs, much rather take a 60 FPE .22 cal 😉

It is definitely racking up some advantages.

Aesthetically pleasing
Very comfortable stock/grip
Great trigger
Great support
Should be the most quiet
Design proven except for addtl power
Magazine
Availability

Things still in the air and Earnest will test most of these
Price
Accuracy (which barrel?)
durability (Valve)
Shot count (should be fine for this beast)

quote synopsys:

Well if NP’s hog hunts are any indication this 30 should easily take a hog.

We could also call it a sparrow and squirrel disintegration tool…

SE, I take it this is the one for you? 😆

Sounds like all three are going to be in the 72-82 FPE range. Hog power? Sparrow power? :horse:

Sure beats the Bobcat in looks and size 🙂 🙂

what FPE are they expecting from this gun ?

I just noticed the barrel in the LW link has no choke… 😉 I guess then the OD of the new barrel is unknown.

I was mostly talking about the rifle in the photo and not what the future production models would come with. 😀

Steve made it sound like the new LW barrels are designed for the JSB 30 (not the .308s) should be arriving immediately. I didn’t think there would be more than this one ST – an availability issue but not sure. Earnest – do you know?

Lothar is coming out with a new 30 caliber barrel… July 30 2013, 11:35 PM

Before everyone goes south on the L/W 30 caliber barrel…….

The barrel being referred to was made using specs for a 308 caliber bullet – NOT a pellet. A new barrel is coming to the U. S. from Germany that was tailored around the JSB 30 caliber pellet. We will be using them on the Cricket 30 caliber and should have results posted in about two to three weeks. “

I think the first batch was going to be ST barrels. It looks pretty skinny to be a LW barrel… 😉

Most LW barrels are 0.670″ which is a tad over 17mm…

My 177 barrel OD is 16mm on my standard tactical. I think it is a CZ barrel though. Although the 177 LW barrels have the same OD (i’m looking to get a 24″ for my Cricket).

Looks like the 22 & 25 ST barrels have a 14mm OD. Not sure about the 30’s.

Is this the Smooth Twist barrel? Are we still looking at LW barrels?

The aluminum on the shroud matches the other aluminum bits at the scope columns and the breech.

Looks pretty sweet!

So is the 30 cal barrel smaller in OD than the other barrels and thus the aluminum bits? 😕 It’s a smooth twist barrel right?

I can’t wait to see some groups and velocities out this beast!!!!

Nice…. You bet the Boss is 47.5″ long. Shorter than the Bobcat…. :8: I prefer the end caps on the NC anodized as well. I wonder if Peter plans on anodizing the other mods for 30 cal that are not anodized.

I guess I am just going to have to be flexible on the 30 cal length a bit. 😐

Not bad at all for all the power that she is packing. Thanks for the pictures Ernest!

quote sniperlabyo:

Neil, just sent me this shroud!——> no that’s from my .25.

I’ll order one without the aluminum showing, still 35″ long and that’s only 2″ longer then the .25 cal cricket, shorter then the BOSS.
