Q:

50yd? Bench rest Condor

Can the condor be competitive at 50yds against Arm Arms, Daystate and other customs?? I join a club/team that shoot competitive bench rest. My Condor likes 50 yards better than 20yards, I think with some more tuning, trigger work and a bench rest stock it would do well.. Looking at Mad Dogs bench rest stocks, I wonder if his stocks would work with Tony’s drop tank adapter????
Here’s my first attemp at 50yards, it’s harder than u think!!

Some shake down shot @50 yards, wind kicking. 1.25″ group, main group .5″.
Gun is stupid precise its me that needs the work.

75 yards bad wind blowing left to right

1st match is next weekend, gun is ready, I just have to work on my technique, 2 fingers and a cheek is all that touches the gun. Any kind of tight hold the pellet goes bonkers. Shooting black powder percussion caps tonight at 35/50 yards! *BOOM*!….lol

Installed my new 24″ R&L .22 “Heavy” barrel, groups and accuracy greatly improved. The gun really settles down at 1600psi w/ the smallest TT insert. Pushing the 18gr JSB @ ave 830fps. Ordered a regulator from JDS, should be in this week. New TT shroud this week too I hope. Very big bark unshrounded. Here a little video at 35 yards, my next match is on the 21st@35yds.

Here’s a video while I was zeroing my new Scope. This bird is going to be badass in competition after Tony works on it and get it regulated. Right now I’m using the tightest TH restriction 25-30 shots from 2400-2000psi ace 760fs I need the 24″ barrel for that last little bit of accuracy

Actually it feels better to shoulder than stock

Dude that is pimp! Nice set up. How does it shoulder?

And knife stop posting about all the success and how awesome your .257 is! Its making me ithe to get one! Lol

Maddog stocks come through again, superior workmanship, next stop TalonTunes for a 24″ and some Tony mojo.

quote powderburner:

that full length stock looks really nice. and it should keep you from torking the gun around and changing impact points that way at least.

thats the plan, especially when you have to hit a target the size of a pencil eraser at 50yards everytime

Good news, Doug at Maddog finished the stock and shipping out today. Should have it by mid-week. Gonna be awesome!

Thanks for the input, looking into at 24″ barrel, I may just go with .25 for distance stability, I may get both and and see why works, then once I decide I’ll get a regulator. I’ll take it over to Tony for him to tighten it up.

Update pic of Stock from Doug at Maddog

i would say most could not do that, yes it is capable , tuned ,but not out of the box, unless just lucky

you cant really do that with out of the tin pellets, well maybe 5 shot groups but 10 would not be easy

the gun has to be in a very tight tune to be able to keep 10 shots in the tightest group .just the drop in air pressure and fps variation will have your impact point vary greatly .

that is what plagues the air force, and makes it great at the same time, is the huge air supply, you can get allot of shots, but at the cost of a great difference in fps spread.

You can tune the air force at the peak of the curve for a tight(regulator type) fps variation,( but with a very short shot count, like 10 shots) and get great consistency, combine this with a broken in rifle and a good pellet,(roll sort the pellet and even better) and you have a rifle for bench rest.

all this is for the greatest of consistency of course,

A stock Talon SS with a 24″ .22 LW barrel is capable of putting 10 shots in a .5″ CTC group at 50 yards.

Fear not the competition.

if you get the gun broken in properly and get your feet per second variation down it can do it.

jb bore paste the barrel , and polish everything that touches anything inside the frame

learn to tune it to tightest fps, or regulate it, or get a regulator for your fill bottle and tether to your gun,

The gun is not designed for this but with that barrel it can do it.
