.57 MOA 212 yards
I got a call from John Bowman and he gave me some tips on bench resting the Haley and tuneing it.
After 45000 rounds thru his rifle he had aquired a vast knowledge of getting them to shoot well. He gave me pointers on the barrel hand and how to set it, how to hold the rifle and how to make a better aiming point.
So I sprayed this diamond on my 8 inch white disc.
I shot this group at the end of the day, it was so foggy I could not see the white disc with my naked eye. The group is 3.5 inches/1.7 MOA.
But the best group of the day was 5 shots into 1.5 inches/.57 MOA at 212 yards.
This was with a 3600 PSI tethered fill and 257420 cast from 25/75 % Lyman #2 and lead and Food grade silicone spray for a lube, another John Bowman tip.
I also shot the rifle at 3100 PSI for Doug so he could get an idea what I get for velocity at 3100 PSI, which was 1070 FPS, this alloy is about 20 FPS slower than lead Doug.

At work, there are cans of the food grade silicone spray everywhere. I might have to grab a couple cans.
Could you PM me John Bowman’s number; I just might have to call him up and ask if he has any tips on a .257” Boss! 😆
Hart shipped my 28” long .257” barrel yesterday for my Boss project. I see that you keep raising the bar and I will probably need all of the help that I can get. A 5 shot 3.5”, 212 group could be doable, a 1.5” group will be very hard to beat!
I had to go to the bar to get my “sleeping medicine”, while there, I had to show your group to my buddies. They were just flabbergasted that a “pellet gun” could shoot like that!

I shot about 40 shots today, the first 2 were unlubed, and I can see just a very slight hint of leading on the lands. But it could have been from the first 2 unlubed shots.
Still waiitng for the mail I see Mike. 😉

Never would have thought of using silicone lube for bullet lube.

Well, it was more than that Cedric.
On the barrel band, he recomended that I unscrew the barrel 4 or 5 turns, wrap a single wrap of scotch tape on the barrel just above the barrel band and then screw it back down which takes the tape into the barrel band.
He recomended that I move the limb saver up to 2 inches from the muzzle break.
Also to set the forearm on a sturdy rest and hold the forearm and the rifle very firmly.
He uses blue painters tape to make a square and shoots at the points, I just spray painted one on my 8 inch white disc.
And he recomended lubing with silicone. I had some food grade silicone already sitting on the window sill from making the leather seals for the BSA Improved Mdl D.

Now that’s what we’ve been waiting on.
So RC, what TIP from John did you think made all the differences? The 3600 psi pressure or the Food Grade Silicon? Or a combo of the 2?

I had it on hand from making seals for that old BSA Improved Mdl D, and did not know what else to do with it, so it just set in the window of the shop.
John said you can use it on the bolt also.
I am going to try it as a personal lube tonight, I mean hell it is food grade after all. 😛
