Q:

852.6 FPE!

I got my new molds from Accurate Molds on Saturday while I was away shooting. Don’t believe that banner on the site that says three week turn-around, I had my molds in a week and they are fantastic!

That’s the new 664gr, a 2220gr .452 Raptor for comparison, and the new 677gr. Those slugs are from the first 10 cast from each mold so they will clean up a bit later but those are fantastic first pours. These are great molds, you are looking at unsized slugs and the parting line is facing you. Hard to tell, isn’t it? No hair at all and the alignment is as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen on a mold. The size is so good that I don’t need to size these slugs, they are exactly the size I specified. I’ll have to go to the Accurate Molds website and see if there’s a place to post some kudos as these are a great product.

Butcher and you other hunters that like big meplats, look at that, these things meplat is a full .45!

Here’s the gun:

And here’s a closeup of the hand inlayed Elk cheek rest that RC covets… 😉

So, PJ and I decide we need to know how much power the gun makes with another 100 grains or so in the chamber…

The 677gr slug chrony’d at 753fps for 852.6 FPE and the 664gr slug chrony’d at 748 for 825.1 FPE. I’m not sure why the lighter slug went a little slower. I was trying for equal fills but might have not gotten it right. In any case, the lighter (and slower) slug hit higher than POA and the heavy slug was hitting dead on. Curious, but we can’t do extensive testing here due to the noise. AJ (my youngest) said he heard the gun go off when he was at the bus stop and it caused his friend to fall off his skateboard…

Here’s a video of what the gun does to a melon (if you hit it) at 100 yards. The vide was taken the same day the new molds came in so I was using 575gr slugs not having any new ones cast yet. So, you’re probably looking at about 680 FPE on the Melon but that’s a guess plus or minus 20 FPE or so.

Really nice. You must hunt some biggins up there in the NE. Now thats perfect for our deer airgun season here in Missouri.

What??!! General Patton would have been proud to showcase his Ivory handled guns next to the Yukon!

Jerry,

He makes some fine molds does he not? I have never had to wait the three weeks either.

What really impressed me is the after service on his products. I just wish he made smaller calibers.

That is really a pretty gun Jerry, just not something myself or General Patton would carry. 😆

Reards,

Roachcreek

Ain’t making no pumpkin pie with that 😯
