Q:

Some delrin and an anti flash cut out via eBay.

A little time on the Lathe.

To produce this –

Not really necessary, but I have read where people figure scope reflection spooked off prey. Is also supposed to help with glare.

Will figure out a surface finish to get rid of the spiral from manufacturing process and clean up the rear edge later.

I did it once and turned the sucker on… 😯 Luckily it wasn’t anything bad, had to retrieve the key from behind the cabinet full of heavy stuff though..

Nobody ever really taught me to use a lathe so I learned the hard way… Never broke anything or stripped anything but did bleed a little bit in the process… 😆

I figured he made a switcharoo… 😆

Check youtube for “lathe vs idiot” for a good chuck key accident.

Hi,

did try the cheap ebay stuff it give a bad view, I bought a NIKON ARD.
and make it fit in to a butler creek flip up.

It works very nice, only at dusk it loose some view.

It works VERY good for crow shooting 😉

YN, my picture was pretty close to unaffected. Just a very slight degradation in both avail light, resolution, and slightly off color. But nothing really noticeable. If you want to borrow mine for testing, let me know. I think it’s for a 40mm Leupold fixed objective, like on the 3.5-10 scopes with side parallax focus.

The honeycomb on the material I got is shiny which is probably the cause.

Thanks for the offer walt – Dont think I’ll need it. I got the material originally for a Leapers scope which preformed horrible with what seemed to be any direct sunlight, but only got around to making something after I’d already switched to a legend. I think either you or knife said it earlier but you were right and I couldn’t get any noticable reflection from the objective and the scope preforms very well even facing the sun (I dont plan to shoot that way).

Tried it out today and best description is that it BLOWS.

Nice bright day – wouldn’t expect much change, turns a nice clear image into a horrible white glare…..

Shadoh, he switched pictures in an edit 🙂
I thought of saying something as well, but shit, I do it once in awhile too, when in a rush.

Look closer at what? There is only one picture with a chuck and there isnt a key in it. Are you talking about the T handled allen wrench laying under the lathe? If thats bad Im guilty of it as well. All kinds of stuff ends up in my pan under my lathe.

you have to look closer, LOL.

JK 😆 😆 😆

Hoot, are you using the MAC? the Windows guys don’t see the chuck key 😆 😆 😆

😯 I don’t see a chuck key in any of the photos… 😕

Hoot – refresh….

Is this a chuck key??? Over there, on the left?

Hoot 😯
