Some delrin and an anti flash cut out via eBay.

A little time on the Lathe.

To produce this –

Not really necessary, but I have read where people figure scope reflection spooked off prey. Is also supposed to help with glare.
Will figure out a surface finish to get rid of the spiral from manufacturing process and clean up the rear edge later.

Naaaah. 😳
Just abut any scope with Multi coated lens won’t reflect.
Nice Job! 😀
Now get that damed Key out of the Chuck! 😯 👿 You would be amazed how many machinest have lost their fingers that way. 😯
For finish, bead blast it!
(For what it’s worth, modern scopes really don’t put out a flash, But a mounted light does. Especially when facing the setting sun). I can’t count how many times I have seen someone put the mesh on their scope and at the same time, keep the mounted gun light un-covered. The reflector does exactly what it is supposed to do. Reflect light! 😯 😆 Dumb Asses! As for lens reflection, Quality Coated optics can’t, they are designed to kill stray light. Just saying. It will kill sun glare in cheaper scopes though. (And a lot of usable light at night) 😉
Thats the Cummings Tool Mini Lathe, they changed their name to tools now and then went out of business. Its the same as the Harbor Freight Mini Lathe, except in Yellow.
Your idea of a cheap scope is anything under $1000… so all mine qualify, LOL
Walt,
I think you’d be underwhelmed if you saw my shop and I’d be in awe if I saw your’s so let me know when you want to switch !
looks nice YN i cant machine shit but even i know your suppossed to never leave the key in the chuck. lol just busting your balls.
looks great really.
stay warm, ken
What lathe is that YN? Where and how much? I still need one. I just need to sell the spare LARGE Mill/Drill first to make room.

The machine used for this is entirely manual (lathe). My mill is CNC’d and all the electronics are off the shelf – I just had to wire the stuff together, its all outlined in this thread –

Ya I could see that. Thanks for the thread.
Hmmm. What you shooting at that spooks like that?? I have one as well, but took it off as there is a slight degradation in optics. Not bad, but noticeable.
YN, we should just go over each other’s inventory. Looks like everything you have is something I’d like to try or have tried. My ARD is sitting in a drawer. For 40mm Mark 4 Leupolds.
aloha,
walt

Did you make the stepper contollers on that machine? Until recently I thought these were plug and play mfg. DOIY gave it a new perspective.
😯 Nice work YN, can’t even tell it wasn’t oem! 😉
Thanks.
I bought the honecombe from eBay –
I could have programmed my mill to do the honeycomb (not much time once you get a few drills done the rest are just cut and paste), but I’m in the middle of having it in pieces, have a few software/hardware issues with it at the moment – one of which is the mist coolant that needs me to finish installing my air distribution.
Bet that took a while to program, never mind the chips! Looks damn good too. Do you have flood coolant on your mill? Or was the honeycombe piece premade? Either way it’s a cool idea and nice work.
Can’t wait to see the results and hope it good. Keep up the good work “America Ninja” 😆 😆 😆
I live on the Cape – you guys are supposed to get the worst of it from what I saw earlier on News. Just slush at the moment on the ground, wind starting to pick up.
Yellow Ninja ware about due you live i am in Bristol RI 02809 Ryancap1 😮
