Advice for a 1st big bore
I want to start predator calling with airguns. I have hunted yotes, bobs, coons, and fox for along time and feel a big bore would meet my needs.
I would like a DAQ or a Haley .308 but jack is ill and I have heard its hard to get on the list for DAQ. The Recluse is the only other rifle that’s caught my eye. Any thoughts or suggestions? Most of my stands are sub 50yrds pelt damage is a concern with fox and bobcat. Will a .357 shred the smaller critters? Are there other rifles that I’ve overlooked?

heck the marauder 25 cal I just bought a month ago will kill everything you listed just fine ..and will not mess up the pelt …and is dam accurate … the DAQ is not very accurate in many cases … when you compare it to less say a ranger scout 308-357 or the ranger 45-58

yep, with Jack being Ill now and Dan having a wait of “WHENEVER” and also DAQ having the “IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ON MY LIST” thingy, it’s really hard to find a custom big bore. Doug is about the only guy right now making 257, 9mm, 308’s….etc…etc…etc but you would have to talk to him about availability.
If i didn’t already have big bores at home, i would easily opt for the recluse (korean guns). They are modable and they work. They shoot readily available cast bullets pretty well and with a tune, the get to be pretty powerful.
If you want it NOW, i would buy the Recluse. The 357 doesn’t SHRED animals like a 357 magnum would. The bullets are normally hard and when shooting small animals, it just punches a 357 cal hole and whacks em pretty good. I’ve shot plenty of Jack Rabbits with 320 gr FP bullets traveling over 800 FPS and its nothing more than instant death but nothing GORY! OF course though, when you hit one with a 310 gr 457 caliber FLYING ASHTRAY HOLLOWPOINT BULLET, it gets pretty nasty. 😆
