Advice needed! Leaking Valve
Hi guys,
I have a standard Gunpower Stealth, up to last week all was well. After a few shots, i noticed that air was slightly leaking from the valve stem. I took a few more shots and the valve seemed to seal itself again.
The next day after approx 5 shots the valve was once again leaking air from the stem, although this time i didnt stop until it completely emptied the tank this time. (took approx 10 mins).
I have managed to remove the valve from the bottle ( Bloody Loctite!) and have taken apart the valve and given it a good clean. There does not appear to be any swarf or other contaminants around the delrin seal. I have cleaned everything and reinstalled the valve on the bottle.
The problem is that what ever i do now the bottle wont hold any air, it just starts to leak through the stem as soon as any air goes in the bottle.
I have also had the burst disk on and off that much now trying different valve spring loads that it doesnt seal either now!
Is the valve knackered? should just i order a new one or try and repair this one?

If you are staying with the 12″, a Talon valve from the States will work fine. Just have to throttle it back ’till you get your FAC.
Sorry Yellow Ninja its the way i have explained it.
The valve only starts to leak after i have removed the fill adaptor, as you have rightly pointed out air cant leak from the stem during filling.
Its only after messing out trying to stop the stem leak ,removing the burst disk 5-6 times, that the burst disk is starting to leak also now.
New valve to be ordered soon. Seeing as Pablo has planted the seed i Just cant decide on Talon or Condor valve now…

Just to let everyone know, I NEVER wear knickers.

You shouldn’t notice a valve stem leak until you remove the fill adapter as thats were the air goes in when filling… So if its leaking as soon as you start filling them its either the burst disk- needs tightening, new burst disk or replacing with a set screw and o-ring or where the valve screw’s into the bottle – check or install o-ring if you forgot when re assembling bottle.
See if you can get hold of a 2nd hand valve and bore out the stem a little? Save some money that way?

Just been looking at your items for sale, Gutted it missed the bottle and Selph valve, it would have been perfect…
What valve would you buy? i am probably always going to keep a 12″ barrell in the Stealth as it is my roost shooting gun (really overgrown woodland).
I am looking for something that i can run at 12ft/lbs initially and then crank it up when i get my FAC.
You havent got a spare Selph/Blodnob valve kicking round have you? 😆
Good question Pablo, I was thinking originally of getting a Condor valve. But i thought a condor valve on a standard 12″ barrel would waste a lot of air and only give 15-20 shots per fill.
Is this right? i’m hoping that someone will be able to give me some feedback on a condor valve on a Talon.
As you can probably see im a bit clueless at the moment! I have more questions than answers 😕

Yes it would waste air, but so would a modded talon valve. With a Condor valve you’ll get extra power, and you’ll be ready for when you get a longer barrel..
Did I mention I have an 18″ .22 barrel for sale….? 😉 😆

I think initially i am going to order a new Talon valve from the US. I’ll get a friend of a friend who lives in the USA to ship one to me.
1) Anyone know approximatly the cost of a complete Talon valve?
2) Do the new valves come with the “O” ring mod already done? or will i have to get that done again over here?
3) Would it be worth getting a new valve and then getting it shipped to Tony at TalonTunes for him to do the O ring mod and Power mod it?

I’m with Pab on this one if your gonna stick with the 12″ barrel them just go with a talon valve with a port and polish job….I’d forgo the o-ring mod unless your sending it in to someone to do the port and polish….I only say that because I’ve done the port and polish job to quite a few standard valves now and even shooting inside my garage where every little noise is amplified I don’t notice a real difference but having said that I know someone will chime in and say otherwise but that’s my 2 cents …with a tss and modded valve it is possible to get 900fps with a 16grn pellet…hope this helps and good luck
