Aluminum magazines for the 25 cal R3M (???)
I am not sure, but I think that I have heard something about the aluminum magazines being replaced by plastic magazines. Although I puchased my Matador R3M Standard 25 cal brand new in July, the manual states that it was actually manufactured on January 6, 2014 and then it says that it states: Date of Storage 1/6/2014. And under that it says: Date of re-storage 1/6/2015. Well, I purchased it in July of 2015 and it came with aluminum magazines.
I am trying to find the cause of poor accuracy. I can shoot a tight, one hole, three shot group at 50 yards but if I shoot an entire magazine, the group will open up to an inch (give or take). This is simply not acceptable. The only adjustment that I have made to the airgun is to turn the hammer spring down to where it shoots 25 grain Exacts at an average of 927 fps. I am three days away from squirrel season. But here is my question: Has everyone who has recently purchased a Matador R3M standard 25 cal also received aluminum magazines??? Could the magazines be distorting my pellet? It is too tight to load a pellet ‘single shot’ style…….or I would start ruling out possible causes of sub-standard accuracy.
It SEEMS that this Matador has the potential to group because it will shoot three shoots touching each other. I have a thirty yard range in the house (no wind) and I will shoot a clip starting at 220 BAR and publish the results. I realize that the 25 cal is harder to shoot…..so I make double-sure that I am holding the gun the very same way each time. In other words, I am doing everything possible to rule out human error. I cleaned the barrel (about 50 shots ago) with ballistol. But for now, I am concerned about the magazines (plastic or aluminum). I appreciate any feedback. My post is probably about as clear as muddy water but I get a little OCD about inaccuracy issues. Thank you. kevin

I have the same exact gun and found that it just needed to be shot a bit before settling down. I got a 1000 rounds through it and then did a complete cleaning including the reg. It has been a tack driver ever since. You also might need to adjust the reg a bit after 1000 rounds. I have extra mags both aluminum and plastic. No difference in accuracy between them….
I have a .25 R3M myself which I got just over a year ago, this came with the two magazines in aluminium also. I have not had an accuracy problem with using either of the mags, the only weak link with accuracy being the fleshy bit behind the trigger 🙄
I know that the R3M requires a good, smart, action to cycle the mag fully – It’s not a delicate cabinet queen, these things are meant to be used 😈
I’d suggest firstly putting a mark on one of the mag chambers to see if the inaccuracy can be ‘nailed down’ to a specific chamber(s) in the mag. If this proves fruitless, then with the bolt pulled back, cycle the mag by hand until you get/feel the next pellet line up with the barrel and then close the bolt.
That’s all I can think of for now, I’m assuming you’ve already run a string over the chrony to check for variations as i’ve had a ‘sticky’ reg O ring before now – that burnt some time finding that sucker !

Thanks guys. I just freaked out a bit. I am going to continue to shoot and shoot this gun. I just KNOW that this gun has potential. I just seem to go mental if I shoot a bad group when, in reality, it is me rather than the gun. Admittedly, I need to chill.
