Will throw the jds reg setup on this one. The shorter tank and reg will be about the same length as the stock tank setup. The reg is set to 2000 psi and should give me right about 30-35 fpe. Perfect for pests and targets plus will be very consistant. Starting at 3000 psi i should get around 80 shots per fill easily. Will have it up and running by next weekend.

Question…I was talking to dyotat100 about regulating the .257 and he expressed the many woes he had with his regulated rifle, Condor (I think), and was wondering if this varies on types of modifications to the rifle, the type of regulator or is consistent airflow just a problem period (but sometimes manageable)?
Also, is your regulator adjustable or does the pressure in the tank change the power? i.e. 2000 psi vs. 3000psi…

Dyotat is the man when it comes to regulating these guns. He helped me alot on my first reg set up. Volume plays a huge part in regulated guns. The chamber between the valve and the regulator has alot to do with the power that can be generated. The only way to compensate for small chamber volume is to increase the pressure or make a bigger chamber. The chamber basically hold the air between the reg and the valve. When the chamber is emptied the regulator does not immediatly fill it up to maintain a constant 2000 psi. When you pull the trigger it dumps the chamber, the valve closes and it is refilled to the regulated pressure.
I was expecting too much power out of my first set up and was getting frustrated. Now I under stand what I need and what I will get with the set up and in my notes can look back and calulate what I need to do to change everything.
The regulators are from JDS. They are adjustable but you have to take it apart to do so. They have a stack of beveled washers inside that depending on how they are stacked is how much pressure you get out of it. I have a 2300 psi and 2000 psi out with 3000 psi in. The pressure in the tank will not change the pressure being released. It only lets out 2000 psi.
Ill do some digging and try to find the post of my regulated build. Was a huge learning experiance and a ton of fun.
