Another leaking Bug :(
So now i´m a member of the not quite so exclusive Cricket Leakage Club, The CLC. I was just shooting the Bugger to cronograph it since i had no glue about the pellet speed and the Combro handheld-thread got me all excited so i dusted off my Combro and went for it only to discover two things:
One – after some modifications to Imppu HST adjuster (20mm Delrin inner guide and Top Hat, by Dr. Evil) the `Roach shot HOT. The first reading was 298 mp/s with JSB King´s and so the second but the third and fourth shots were down at 254 mp/s and 244 mp/s respectively. BTW – you can definitely hear/see the power difference in pellet impact between +- 300 mp/s and 245-255 mp/s. That´s for sure.
Anyway , i was wondering what the Hell was going on and checked the pressure gauge : 60 Bar. O.K , i filled it upto 200 Bar, shot some shots and winded the speed downto 285 mp/s and kept shooting it down to 150 Bar and was satisfied with it at that time.
Now, just a while ago, after ca. 4 hrs from the shooting session, i took a look at the gun and the gauge now showed 110 Bar and, i quess, sinking. Like a skilled detective i ´ve now come to a conclusion that my Cricket leakes, that Bastard…
Well – i have another reg on the way (with markings from 110B-150B) so i´ll soon dive into things anyway but i think it´s quite irritating nevertheless-especially since there seems to be quite a number of owners with bad original o-rings. It´s no biggie though and once changed to proper rubber there shouldn´t be more problems with leaking seals. Dr. Evil has already changed atleast one o-ring on his Bugger too and, in his words,”” those damned original o-rings are nothing more than small Doughnuts rolled from Play Dough = sub-par POS “”.
I guess i´ll change every single one for quality o-rings made of proper material when i get the gun stripped down. So Ernest – now would be good time to send this humble Finn that o-ring kit of yours… 😀
Anyone with an idea which o-ring it could be ? Or, which one is known to give up the ghost and lead to a dropping pressure in the air tube ?? I know that i need to take the gun into bits to be on the sure side of things but i just may have a o-ring that fits. There was a little spare set delivered with the gun but those are most likely of the same brilliant quality as the ring/the rings that has blown.
I need to say this once more : A .25 cal 25+ gr. pellet travelling at 1000 fps creates quite an impact .. 😯 . I shot one of my 1″ diam ,3/8″ thick spinners at 25 meters and now i don´t have that spinner anymore. It got ripped off the massive wooden do-hickey i had it bolted on with a 4″ wood screw. I probably hit the screw though since the scope was zeroed at a lot lower speed. Not seen the spinner since nevertheless …

Wow – I am knocking on wood hoping my Crickets don’t fail after 2000+ shots so far…. Between an extra valve and Ernest’s oring kit I am all set for trouble.
