Anybody ever strip out the barrel grub screw holes?
I have done it to both my side grub screw holes on my Condor.
I repaired it by drilling out the holes with a 7/64th’s bit and tapping the holes to 1/4 28, rather than 1/4 20 to get more threads in that thin frame.
Then I bought 3/8 inch, 1/4 28 set screws, chucked them up in my drill and turned them while grinding on the 2/3rds or so sticking out of the drill chuck with a dremmel grinder. Once they are down to .18 you have a screw that will screw into the frame and still go into the bushing on the barrel.
Hillbilly fix.

I have weird health care.
I have a preexisting condition from 30+ years ago at work when a guy tired to kill me and disabled me for life, so the pension board pays for anything on that. At the same time insurance companies won’t touch me because of the preexisting condition that is paid for, go figure?
So once a year, I go down to the local clinic, order what test I need done to continue my Lipitor and migraine prevention meds: Liver, cholesterol and a PSA and a week later the Dr gets them about the time I show up.
About every 5 years I go to the Bangkok Hospital in Thailand, and have a full run of every test for about 300 bucks, it would cost 5 grand here in the states and I get the test result within an hour of the end of the tests while they are buying me lunch in the cafeteria.
In the meantime I exercise so fucking hard I hurt when I go to bed and when I get out of bed, watch my diet and body fat and the cost of all this is about 350 to 500 bucks yearly, I have 4 more years until medicare when that will change, so it is sort of a horse race to stay healthy until I can get insurance so I can afford to let the quacks kill me..
I made up my mind years ago that if I got cancer or something like that, I will not let those lackies fuck with me, or my fortune that I wish to leave to loved ones.
Best health prevention I have found for good health and attitude is a peice of tail per day. 😉
Fuck Obamas plan and fuck the US medical system that they have fucked up beyond fixing, it is not the best in the world and I doubt in the top ten and definately not worth what they charge for it.

“Work hard for a pension and you will have good healthcare in retirement.” BULL SHIT!!! Turn 65 and “0boma Care Not” takes over. Your pension has gone to shit and you have to pay family deductibles, co-pay, and the collection agency for the rest of any bills you expected your insurance to pick up. obomba got it passed that the gov’t decides if your quality of life warrants any Medicare expense. Add to your list a 7/64 drill bit and 1/4-24 tap and handle and thread cutting fluid.
All things wear out in time, we do notice that when we get to 60 don’t we, but this will keep a person a year or two away from having to buy a new frame once he has stripped a screw out.

Someone should make up an
All In One Emergency Kit;
4 oversized tapered replacement barrel screws (like roachcreek described)
6 Upgrade 90 durometer breech o-rings
4 assorted grub screws
and
2 small squeeze tubes of silicone grease
I’d give $20 for the kit.
The problem with all the epoxies is that when we try to use them in that context, we are assuming and expecting they will be stronger than the aluminum we are replacing, which of course failed in the first place.
JB Weld is some fine stuff but when threaded it does not seem to hold up to the repeated torque of screwing and unscrewing.

I did think the same as there is a lot more metal than on the sides.
Why not get a nice long one piece bushing that I have always wanted to make?

I think when I do it, I’m going to drill down from the top rail. Ill also move the front bushing a little further toward the muzzle.
This wont be happening soon though, the gun is still working just fine the way it is. 😉
Mine stripped on the left hand side, just drilled and tapped the right hand side and been fine ever since.
Drilling and tapping the bushings would be a better idea, but if I was to do it, I would do it in steel due to the short amount of threads.

Drill the holes out smooth, big enough for a 10/32 to pass thru.
Drill and tap the bushings, use domed screws to PULL the bushings into the frame, instead of PUSHING onto the frame.
Methinks this would ultimately be the better solution as bushings can be made/replaced much cheaper than the frame, and the barrel would most likely be more solidly positioned.
I wonder how that would work? It would be pulling the bushing into the bottom of the frame and on one side whereas using set screws sandwiches the bushing between the set screw and the frame on the opposite side.
Im thinking Im going to try this. My frame is so beat and abused already, Ive nothing to lose.
A replacement is in the works already anyway.

Roachcreek, I agree about cancer. I’m going to have fun if the doctors ever tell me I have if. I have a big laugh saved up. The elite have destroyed our food in attempts to control the masses and over population. The joke is on them. We are adapting and they are not.
