Just about to get our new guns (wife a Talon, me a condor)
Has anyone here ever did anything dumb,Like taking the bottle off wrong or misfired shot there big toe off! lol

Smokeyjoe, that compressed air can be deadly if you don’t treat it with respect. Don’t let anything or anyone distract you when filling or handling your bottle or tank. Fill very slowly incase something starts to go wrong, that way you’ll have time to shut’r down.

No, I think that she survived. Luckily he was “only” shooting a lower powered rifle.
when i was about 15, we were playing battleship, with my 880. (battleship was two people throw a can in the river and try to sink the other persons can first) well i was shooting and i was right on the riverbank and my cousin ran in front of me as i pulled the trigger. he got shot in the side of the head right behind the ear. luckly i only pumped the gun 3 times but it hit the vane and he was bleeding all over the place. i think he lost a cup of blood befor we got it to stop. the funny thing was when he was shot and bleeding me other cousin who now is a cop and was the same age was running around crying thinking he was going to die.

Friendly fire is deliberate fire on the wrong forces…. were talking about negligent discharges – Unless someone has shot what they thought was a squirrel and it turned out to be human that wants to admit it.
Even a mall ninja should know that.

That’s actually not far from the truth… Airbags were invented to replace seatbelts. Once it was determined that if you didn’t wear a seatbelt and hit an airbag the fatality rate was 99% (about 50% higher than fatality rates without seatbelts), they changed the way the airbag was to be used. You HAVE to wear a seatbelt if an airbag equipped vehicle or your chances of surviving a frontal impact are 1/2 of what they were BEFORE airbags were added…
So the effect of the airbag is that now 85%-90% of people wear their seatbelts compared to 45%-50% before airbags. Why? Because if you don’t wear the seatbelt the airbag WILL kill you.
Personally i’d rather hit a steering wheel at 25mph than an exploding bag at 1400mph… One is going to bend, the other is going to feel like a brick wall.
So think of this, there is a huge machete ready to chop your head off if you don’t wear your seatbelt but they call it a “safety” device…
Treat them as a firearm and you should good to go.
Along with not trusting the safety I’ll add that I don’t trust the trigger either.
I’ve had two occasions on 2 different guns over maybe 15-20k shots when something just flat wore out in the trigger bits. 1st one, I cocked and loaded, sat there taking aim and thwak… at least I was aiming toward the target box. This behavior continued (or quickly returned) after playing with the springs (stretching, compressing, extra springs etc). Replaced the trigger internals with new and never had another problem.
Second one, diff gun, pull the trigger – no response. Somewhere between 1 and 5 seconds later – bang. ((( I need to order new parts for this one but stretching the right spring has worked intermittently)))
Damage report from trigger mishaps – Dented doorknob, pellet lodged in door frame, small hole in wall, small hole in ceiling and while no damage resulted – one stray pellet fired at about a 30 degree angle the wrong direction (toward the neighbors’ houses).
for me definitely its not a condor or talon, but an old pumper of mine: benji 347.
so, never shot at hardwood with low speed. the pellet could bounce back. it happened to me. I was using iron sight to shoot a rat sitting on a hardwood part of my garage. I missed the rat, the pellet hit the hardwood below it and bounced back right to my right eye. half inch higher and I would probably lost one sight.
edit: that was some 20yrs ago, but the accident still so clear at my memory. 🙂
Several of us have had our guns go off when the safety is released. Many of us have just given up and taken the damed things out. De-cocking works every time.
