Avoid an accident from Air-oil mixture.
Hi Guys..Im new here and recently i become a happy S410 owner so it was matter of time to post a topic while usually i was on the “outside looking in” about this Forum.
Right now i need your advice because i believe that you may know a method or a material to make “O2 Cleaned” a diving bottle or an air rifle cylinder if accidentally dropped some oil inside while it stills not in use? how to 100% clean without the risk of an explosion?
I am said that because i strip down my Hill pump and my little brother spreaded with engine oil the pump tube and it parts without my permission when i left the room and go to the toilet..When i was return i saw what he did…After this i cleaned piece by piece all the part with a cloth which been wet by a cleaner but still i am not sure if it s safe to reassemble the pump and bring it back to action.
What will happen if some oil fume have been created by the high pressure the moment i fill my rifle with the pump?…:shock:
Have you ever seen an accident while a bottle under pressure blow by itselfs?…I did!!!.. 😕 ….and believe me you must feel very lucky if you are Alive after that happened…as i did !!!.
Some people said that Oil and oxygen is the real problem not oil and air.
I believe that this is wrong and there is an info from Air arms if you noticed the owner manual which ask for your Attention about this.

true however…. If you put enough pressure behind air…. it too will become a liquid..
Allthough I am 100 percent sure that this is not achievable and.. well..
I am also pro using pure nitrogen…
2 reasons.
All risk of combustion is eliminated..
And… oxygen atoms are bigger than nitrogen ones.. so you should get some more power (not a lot though) with pure nitrogen over air…

this is an oxygen release..NOT an explosion.Explosion it is the result after an ignition inside the bottle.So these guys on video just help the mass get out of the bottle at realtime.if an explosion happened then you should see just a huge shine and not a small cloud of dust.
my purpose is to remind you how danger the things can be and not telling anything more than a big “Be careful” because people thinks only the oil could be dangerous..WRONG!!!….the truth is that everything flexible can be murderous.
Even your not-in use filling bottle still have a hot air inside irrelevantly if the time is past and is not as hot as the moment you had charged before.
Every kind of mass in the earth have molecules and atoms.
High pressure brings airs molecules too close and makes them attach each other while they keep moving and get friction.You can imagine of this like a person trying to “push” through a crowd to a room.Every time a new person pass the door the more resistance it will be created while that situation brings everyone closer and closer…So…

Flexible object+heat=fire.

Off course our point is the atmospheric air but remember that includes 20% oxygen…the rest is nitrogen.However this small amount is enough to do the damage.

I don’t think it works like that mate..
Co2 doesn’t get hot.. and you even push the atoms so close that it turns into a liquid… yet it doesnt heat up due to friction…
When something cools, the atoms also don’t move as much any more.. so yeah that friction thing is kind of… yeah…

To be honest i was skeptical too until the police announce the result of research.
Anyway it’s not so unbelievable if you can imagine that the pine products resin and is an important source of turpentine….so why not the pollen?
Did you know that the best quality lubricant for subsonic planes,made from Dry Cashew Nuts?…..Sounds weird but its 100% true….just like the pollen case.
Pine pollen goes through a hand pump and causes a deadly explosion? I suppose there’s an official inquiry report substantiating this? Color me skeptical. 🙄

Personally I am not a newbie and I know who I should listen to.
The most people here are at least teenagers and honestly i respect their ages because i been at them position 15 years ago and i know exactly how they feel but….i am sure that this thread is not for fun because i don’t know about yours but my experience is dramatically.
I have been witness many years ago by an accident of an oxygen bottle of those that being used for cutting torch.
Although these bottles been Maintained every month but for an unknown reason this one blows by itself while no one use it for at least 3 days.Seven people lost their lives and the building became like a moon landscape… that moment i was outside the building and try to find my car keys because i had lost them…
Now imagine if something’s going wrong,and that little, cute ,cylindrical object at front of your gun,smash your head into little pieces when you be relaxed as Member Jerry talks about relax.
Believe me its all about for fun but nobody and when i say “nobody” i mean..nobody knows if something change balances inside the tube.
Even the pine pollen could be flexible stuff to ignite a fire.
A friend of mine is hunting to the forest and after few shots return to the car and put the rifle down and start pumping his BSA tube with a handpump.
The ground was full of pine leaves and pollen and his pump sucked it and drive into the cylinder.
Right now my friend watching all of us above our heads….Believe it or not its a true story but this guy is gone without knowing the reason while he was completely unsuspected.
SO …you can call me paranoid,liar,or anything you want but i have reasons for being afraid of those kind of things.

I agree with you too.
About the liquid can be a problem only in case that the moisture helps corrosion.Thats the reason i built a drip leg on the line between the air source and the rifle. the rifle have an up-side position while it charged.This stops liquid issues effectively.to the end of the leg i install a little ball valve in order to release the water after the process is finish.
Also nitrogen works as you described it above.
